Protect your Canon C70 camera and add a variety of accessories with this Zacuto Camera Cage for Canon C70. The cage protects your camera without blocking access to any of its features, functions, ports, or compartments, and it follows in the Zacuto no-cage tradition with an open right side, allowing you to grip your camera directly. An ARRI-compatible rosette on the left side of the cage provides a place for attaching optional handgrips.

Multiple 1/4"-20 threaded mounting holes are located along the side and top plate, which also features an integrated cold shoe and a NATO rail for additional accessory mounting opportunities. The included detachable HDMI cable clamp on the side of the camera cage prevents your HDMI cables from pulling or detaching. The camera mounts onto the cage with a 1/4"-20 screw, and the bottom of the cage is Arca-Swiss compatible and features 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 threads for mounting on a tripod, shoulder rig, plate, and other camera platforms.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I see the 1.56 lb package weight but what is the weight of the item itself?

A: It's 1.12 pounds/ 508.02 grams

Q: 2. Hi, This cage ships with a SmallRig 1639 HDMI cable clamp. I have lost mine. Again, I am looking for a SmallRig 1693 (that’s a three-nine.) If you search B&H for SmallRig 16 three-nine, the search brings up SmallRig 16 nine-three (the wrong one.) After searching that product, another customer asked B&H customer service to help find a replacement for the C70 cage cable clamp (which we know is a 16 three nine.) The answer did not address the question asked. Can you help me (us) find some 16 three-nine cable clamps so we can use our cages?

A: According to SmallRig's part numbers, which are listed on their website, the SmallRig Handheld Cage Kit for Canon EOS C70 ships with the SmallRig 1693 HDMI Cable Clamp for Select Camera Cages.SmallRig part number 1639 is a discontinued magic arm with cold shoe. I have linked both products below so that you can see the parts for yourself. A: As of now, Tilta does not have a HDMI cable clamp for the C70 cage.

Q: 5. Will this work / install properly with a Kondor Blue Top Plate?

A: Yes, It does look like the Kondor Blue top plate would block installation of the Zacuto Z-Finder for Canon C70 Cinema Camera. See this image https://bit.ly/3HEvu8q

Q: 6. Is this cage compatible with the c80?

A: No, cages, like the Zacuto Camera Cage for the Canon C70 and all the others, will need to be redesigned to support the Canon C80 camera's new body. Cages will start arriving soon after the Canon C80 is released.

Q: 7. What Tilta top handle will work with this cage?

A: The Tilta Full Camera Cage for Canon C70 (BH #TITAT12FCCB) can work with any Tilta top handle that uses a cold shoe connection, such as the Tilta Quick Release Top Handle (B&H # TIAQRTHB) or the Tilta Rotatable Quick-Release Top Handle (B&H # TIAQRTH5B).

Q: 8. I see the 1.56 lb package weight, but what is the weight of the item itself?

A: The weight of the item is 1.12 pounds

Q: 9. Does one of the threads on the right side of the cage line up with the tripod hole on the C70's right side? Wondering if I can attach the cage to the camera with a screw on the right side for an extra support.

A: The Tilta Full Camera Cage for Canon C70 (Black) would connect to the Tripod screw of the camera. However, It does not connect allow connection to any other mounting point on the camera. It will be a very strong and protective cage.

Q: 10. What is the lcd panel resolution and is the physical dimension of that ?

A: This does not include an LCD panel. it is a housing that converts the built in LCD on the C70 to a viewfinder.

It's got plenty of cold shoe mounting points and plenty of threaded points as well.

I've used two other cages on a C70 on two ends of the budget spectrum - a Bright Tangerine half cage setup ($1,000+) and a Tilta full cage setup ($100), both great for different reasons. I decided I needed a minimalist setup that kept the weight down to a bare minimum. I was nervous about leaving a $5,000 investment unprotected, but eventually dove in and bought this skeletal cage. I love it.

There's not much to say about the baseplate, because there's not much to it either. It offers mounting points on three sides and has an HDMI bracket to protect your HDMI from being twisted or bent. It isn't a locking HDMI protector, keep that in mind. In my opinion, this is a more elegant solution. Fewer moving parts, and it does it's job. It's not there to prevent an HDMI from getting pulled out, it's there to prevent bending or twisting damage to your HDMI cable and the C70's HDMI port.

The side plate was a question mark for me, and still is to a degree. I removed my C70's hand strap a while back since the only thing it was good at was being a sweat collector. I installed the side plate and... I kinda like it? I don't see myself attaching much to it, but it's attractive, it'll be functional if the need ever arises, and it's surprisingly comfortable.

The top plate is fantastic. Since it attaches to both the top shoe and the sensor plane marker mounting points, and feels nice and secure. It offers the combination of mounting points I need for my setup. I opted for the cage-only bundle since I already own the awesome Kondor Blue Talon handle that I love.
