The Louroe Electronics SA-1A Sound Activated Switch is used in conjunction with the Louroe ASK-4 #101 Audio Monitoring System or any of the AP Series Non-Alarming Base Stations (both sold separately). Usually located near the base station, this switch provides a variable threshold level control that activates the microphone when that level is exceeded by a sound.

In addition, it has 2 sets of relay contacts that automatically close when the threshold level is exceeded. This can be used to activate a camera, light or other annunciations. Automatic re-set is adjustable between 0.5 and 60 sec. An alarm LED is illuminated during activation time. 12VDC power (sold separately) is required when this switch works as a stand alone unit (without base station).

A: It works quite well. I use a Shure SM35 headset mic when playing my electric upright and use this to kill my mic when I'm not singing. It works great with external phantom power. It does suck batteries, though, if you have it off a good bit. I go through a 9v Duracell Quantum battery every 1.5 gigs. However, when the power dies, it defaults to the mic being on, so you don't lose your mic in mid-set if the battery dies. If you're using a powered pedalboard or can run from the wall wart, you'll be fine. Switching is quiet, so you don't even notice when you turn the mic on and off. Overall, it's a great pedal and I use it every week.

It has a mono plug.With a mono to stereo adapter it can be used with portable FM Receivers and I also plug mineinto a Bluetooth receiver to listen to Bluetooth devices through my hearing aids.It is a great device to enhance the use of my hearing aids with the telephone switch.Roy
