I've been using the GVM 800d for about a year now for all my RGB lighting needs. It's been a great solution but I've been in need of something a bit more powerful and sturdier for the amount of travel I do. I noticed a drastic improvement in build quality immediately. All of the fixture construction seems well built for the price. It is noticeably more powerful than the 800d as well. For an RGB panel at this price, I've been impressed. It's hard to nitpick a budget light like this. I wouldn't buy any other brand in this price range.

I just started using these lights to do some b-roll video for Youtube. They are relatively easy to control through the app, but take some fiddling with to fully understand the functionality. The light quality is good and fairly accurate as far as temperature. I hope that my experience with these lights remains positive as time goes on.

I am impress with how much output this RGB panel also have when I switch to Bi-color, it has 3200-5600k Color temperature. I will recommend it.

The 1200D light fixture from GVM is a fantastic light for field production use. I purchased the three light kit and they work great for interviews. For an RGB fixture they give accurate output in the 3200-5600k which is important when lighting talent and you get the added bonus of RGB color to light up your background. Its a win win!

These have given my light kit a huge step up! I no longer have to worry so much about the ambient color temperature on the practical lights in a scene... I can just set these to match.
I use two of these for an interview. They aren't bright enough to light a large space like a stage, but they can help fill in shadows when needed.
On a standard light stand, I've noticed you don't want to mount these vertically like a typical light... there is another hole in the yolk going horizontal that works best. If you try to mount vertically, the barndoors get in the way when you try to tilt down.
I also strapped the power AC inverter box to the frame permanently so it doesn't dangle when the stand is extended high. It still fits nicely in the provided case when done this way.

It looks like GVM has learned a lot about what was wrong with their previous model and what needed to be improved upon in order to be considered a player in the semi-professional lighting market. The biggest improvements aren't coming from the quality of the light itself, but in the implementation of set-up. While the old light relied upon using wifi on a single light basis, this one uses Bluetooth to connect to a competent phone app. Plus, it adds lighting effects that the old version didn't have. Setting up the master/slave lighting set up works a lot faster, but you're still not able to change the settings for each light individually (at least from what I've seen) once in the master/slave mode. Haven't had a chance yet to play with the lighting effects feature. For what I shoot, it's more of a gee-whiz option than one that will be used for still photography. Where lighting effects might come in very handy is in spicing up your video work, especially at parties and weddings. I'm using a pair of 970 batteries and getting about 4 hours at 5200k and 100% volume, but your mileage may vary. The supplied tripod legs fold the opposite of most other light stands, but it will afford you a wider spread that translates into greater stability (less chance that the light might tip over. Looks like the full height of the stand is about 72. Well made, consistent quality of light, good instruction manual, and 1 year guarantee add up to a great value.

These lights are great! They are great for indoor space to fill in the scene!

I bought these lights October 2021 to start using for self-serve small hybrid events. I do not have an audiovisual background. I found these lights and app were easy to use. I highly recommend watching the tutorial videos. I suggest getting the GVM Softbox. I used without for a while but great appreciate the softer light when I am in front of the camera.

These are excellent quality lights, and at a relatively low price, they offer so much to photo and video creators looking to enhance the lighting of their scenes. They have a standard color temp range from 3200-5600K, and customizable hues to represent all colors. And the preset effects like police car lights, TV lights, and party lights are great for staging various creative scenes.
