Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this lens work on a X-E1?

A: Yes, but it is a large lens and will not be well balanced on the X-E1. You could also consider the Fuji grip, which would be somewhat helpful.

Q: 2. Does it come with a lens hood?

A: Yes -- not only that it locks so it stays on. Can be reversed for storage and has a little sliding window that lets you adjust polarizers with the hood in place.

Q: 3. When you pick up this lens, does it make rattling noise like the 50-140 F2.8 would?

A: I don't own the 50-140, but I do own the 90. This lens makes a similar, but less pronounced clunking noise when powered off. From what I've read, it's a normal result of the focus mechanism.

Q: 4. Does this lens work with Olympus mirrorless cameras or Panasonic mirrorless cameras as well?

A: Sorry but it's lens mount to the camera is an X mount. The only way it would work is if you have a lens mount converter

Q: 5. Lenses only?

A: Don't understand the question!

Q: 6. Two questions: 1. What does this combination weigh? 2. How does it compare to the Panasonic-Leica 100-400mm zoom in weight?

A: XF100-400mm lens with the 1.4X TCL combination weighs approximately 3.7 lbs.Panosonic's 100-400 lens for micro four thirds weighs approximately 2.17 lbs.The two are constructed differently and the specifications for each are listed below.a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1211984-REG/panasonic_100_400mm_g_series_lens.html target= _blank http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1211984-REG/panasonic_100_400mm_g_series_lens.html/aa href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1224369-REG/fujifilm_xf_100_400mm_f_4_5_5_6_r.html target= _blank http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1224369-REG/fujifilm_xf_100_400mm_f_4_5_5_6_r.html/a

Q: 7. Is it possible to buy a larger tripod mount/handle?Because this one is a bit too small.

A: No.

Q: 8. Does the lens come with a tripod collar?

A: The rotating tripod collar is built into the lens and non-removable. Although the tripod mount is removable and held in by 2 heavy duty screws.

Q: 9. Does the zoom lock switch lock the lens at any zoom distance?

A: Just locks at 100 mm.

Q: 10. Does the Fujifilm T2 autofocus with the 2X teleconverter and the 100-400mm lens?

A: I have the 1.4x converter and use it with the 100-400mm lens. Yes, autofocus works just like the original lens with no converter. But with revised specs for focal length and aperture. I notice a very slight deterioration clarity for the 1.4x which is still acceptable. You might consider the 1.4x over the 2.0x depending on your telephoto needs. Combined with the 1.5x lens adjustment factor on the X-T2 that already gives pretty good reach.

Although I just got the lens, I tested it out in my back yard on a few quick shots, handheld. It is sharp throughout the range from 100-400 (150-600 eq) and from the center to the edges. DOF is as expected from another great Fuji XF Lens.

I primarily shoot animals in the zoo or various rescue and shelters around Phoenix. I was shooting a D750 and a Sigma 150-600 lens and getting shorter every time I picked it up. A good friend of mine told me about Olympuses micro 4/3 system but the sensor seemed to small. Sony's r7 stuff had limited lenses and was a little out of my range. Enter Fujifilm! I rented the X-T1 and this lens and it was love at first click. It focuses quickly and accurately and it's incredibly intuitive to use, (only took me about a week). I now have 2 bodies and 6 lenses all of which weigh les than my Nikon with the big glass. The difference between mirror less and full frame is the difference between a Mac and a PC. I have 2 more Nikon lenses to sell and then the conversion is complete. If you are one of those people that feel as though more pixels are better, save your money, you're going to need it!

Being on the viewfinder end of an APS-C sporting a 600mm equivalent end of range can be dizzying in handheld, especially when carrying a 2lb+ lens. I truly have no idea how the pro birder photogs do it. But what I got this beast for is for pics to flatten out the landscape perspective (picture attached to show what I mean)., and in that regard this lens is utterly superb. Also, I shot handheld 95% of the time, and that OIS made the aforementioned virtual 150mm-600mm view very easy to frame This is a wonderful specialty lens and if you're a big guy like me, the weight is no issue.

I use the lens for wild life photography. Great for getting up close to distant animals. Quick focus and sharp images.

I've owned the lens for a couple of weeks and have already snagged some fine wildlife photos with it. It is compact and light enough to make backpacking with it conceivable, yet it has a solid, durable feel to it. One quirk: The focal length lock only works at 100 mm - yours, too?

This lens has nice features such as a button release for the lens hood, OIS and a lens lock. I took some photos at sunrise at very high ISO's with excellent results. So far it's thumbs up all the way around!!

Quality exceeded my expectation. Surprised at the size and weight but still lighter than Nikon super telephoto lenses. Comfortable on my XT-1 but not as much on a XT-10.

I use the lens for general hobby photography. It is sharp and contrasty even wide open with good saturation, well built, focuses fast and accurately both with and without the 1.4x tel-extender. The anti-shake mechanism works well. I was able to take a picture inside a well lighted building. The tel-extender works well but could fit a little more snugly. The size and weight are very reasonable considering the focal range. All things considered, highly recommended. Dandy Don

I have had to go lighter with my equipment due to paralysis and left the Nikon word for Fuji. I compared the results I get with the Nikon 810 with the 200-500 mm lens with the Fuji XT2 and the 100-400mm lens. I had trouble telling which camera took which picture. Picture subject consisted of herons and egrets that were about 100 feet away from me. Feather detail etc was sharp in both cases. I will admit the D810 had a slight edge in detail i.e. 24 vs 36 megapixels-- but when pixel difference was balanced out - no real difference. Perhaps it is my prejudice but I liked the color detail of the Fuji more - there was a cleaner color/tone definition. It is an excellent lens - PS I also used the 2extender with it - produced great results.
