The DB-44 Demon 44mm Ball Head with DAC-X1 Arca-Type Clamp from Desmond is a robust tripod ball head with an impressive 66 lb load capacity. The tension on the 44mm ball can be adjusted to resist the weight of large camera and lens combinations to prevent them from suddenly flopping over. It features dual portrait angle selector notches to make it easier to position heavy lenses and tension adjustment to offset the weight load.

The base of the DB-44 has a 3/8"-16 threaded tripod socket, and the included 3/8"-16 to 1/4"-20 reducer bushing makes it possible to mount the head on almost any tripod leg set. The DAC-X1 clamp on top of the ball is compatible with most Arca-type quick release plates, brackets, and other accessories, available separately.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this clamp accept the 3 Legged Thing Ellie G bracket?

A: Yes, the Ellie will work with this clamp.

Q: 2. Do I need a screw to install?

A: The Desmond DAC-100B 100mm Skeleton Clamp with Removable Level has a 3/8"-16 female socket and includes a 1/4"-20 reducing bushing adapter. So it will fit on any tripod screw.

Q: 3. How can you convert the knob to a lever lock like Reallyrightstuff uses. I have the BH-55 and am thinking of a change?

A: The entire quick release clamp would need to be removed to have a lever lock clamp installed on it.

Q: 4. Will this clamp accept a Sirui TY-70 plate? The Sirui plates are wider than standard

A: Yes, the Sirui TY-70 plate can fit the DAC-38.

Q: 5. Is the 2545T compatible with GXP and can it be folded back smoothly?

A: The Acratech GXP-SS Ball Head with Arca-Type Compatible Lever Clamp will work on the Gitzo GIGT2545T Traveler Series tripod. Note it will not be able to fold in reverse completely with it attached.

Q: 6. Is it normal that the camera shifts a bit when tightening the main knob when zooming at 400+mm?

A: The camera can shift very slightly when tightening any of the knobs on the Acratech GXP-SS Ball Head with Arca-Type Compatible Lever Clamp.

Q: 7. Can someone please tell me if this clamp is raised high enough to be placed on a flat surface without the knob getting in the way? I have the DAC-38, and I hate how the locking knob sticks out.

A: No. If you place the clamp on a flat surface, the bottom edge of the knob hits the table and raises the clamp slightly - not by much, but you enough to certainly impede tightening it. You must position it to stick out beyone the edge of whatever you are mounting it on. I also have a larger DAC-X1 and it is the same (worse, actually), although with the way I use them it doesn't matter,

Q: 8. What is the base diameter?

A: The base diameter is 2''.

Q: 9. A review by Lensvid (whoever they are} points out that the movement of the Bh1 could be smoother. I wonder if they mean it seems to stick . But on the other hand they do say it seemed to be better after using it. Is this the experience of others or is it likely they had a faulty copy. Can anyone shed some light on this concern?

A: All of the reviews we've seen of the ProMediaGear BH1 Sputnik Arca-Type Ball Head mention how smooth the movements are.

Q: 10. Can you load from top or do you have to slide in?

A: You can load from the top or slide in.
