The Gefen EXT-DVI-FM2500 Dual Link DVI FO Module Extender with Virtual EDID extends dual-link DVI up to 3,300’ (1,005.84m) to a display supporting resolutions up to 3840 x 2400 (WQXGA), using a two-strand 50/125μm laser-optimized multimode (OM3) LC-terminated fiber optic cable (sold separately). Optical signal transmission provides galvanic isolation and immunity to electromagnetic interference compared to similar copper-based extension modules.

The Virtual EDID feature programs the display EDID into the Sender module to ensure fast integration and compatibility between the source and the display.

The attractive and compact Sender and Receiver modules fit neatly behind the equipment for a clean installation, making it a great way to extend dual-link DVI.

A: It would have little to no interference. Due to the 3.5 ports being properly grounded.

A: Unfortunately, this switch only supports one DisplayPort monitor. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Q: 5. Would I get any problem using a DVI/VGA adapter to connect to both the DVI and VGA outputs on the back of my computers ?

A: I did this for several months using this switch with one computer with VGA w/ y adapter and the other with straight DVI, and I had no problems.

Q: 6. I have a Mac Pro Tower, i want to send signal from my computer(dvi) to atem pro 4k. either 1080p60fps or 30fps. Will this be able to do these formats ? I want it to match with the studio camera. how do you change the output signal ?

A: I did buy this but ended up using a HDMI to SDI connector for this task from a MBP laptop and Mac Mini. I used a Black Magic Mini Converter HDMI to SDI. I then used a SDI to Thunderbolt to send video back to each machine. Search on B&H for Blackmagic Design CONVMBHS2

A: If your computer has a DVI output, the Kopul 6' Dual Link DVI-D Cable BH #KODVIA406 would allow you to connect 1 monitor to your computer.

Q: 8. can this be used to connect a apple cinema display to Mac book pro?

A: This has a DVI input it would not be ideal for that use.

Q: 9. Is this rack mountable? Does it come with the L shaped brackets?

A: The Gefen EXT-DVI-144N 1:4 Distribution Amplifier is rack mountable and it comes with Rack Ears (EXT-RACK-19-GRY) in the box.

Q: 10. The Product Overview says "The 2nd Cat 5e cable is used for HDCP, RS-232, and microphone signals". What is the impact of only using one Cat 5e cable if I don 't use RS-232 or a microphone? Will the monitor not display copy-protected material?

A: Correct, the absence of HDCP with the absence of the second Cat 5e connection may render some material as invisible.

This is a bargain, considering how heavy duty it is. Makes flawless connections between my workstation and older monitor, via DisplayPort to DVI adapter. B&H is always fantastic to deal with at every level--product specialist, security guard, cashier, returns. I go out of my way to buy here. You won't regret doing so too. 5

I use both Apple & PC computers, I have a 24 Apple monitor that I used for business presentations on occasion. With all the Pico / Portable projectors available I was able to lighten my travel load, but what do I do with my Apple monitor? This Link DVI allowed me to connect my 24 Apple monitor to my Windows PC and it works great. Gave away my old 24 Gateway monitor. I'm very happy with the purchase. B&H was great in helping me find the right solution. Thanks guys! PS - I'm a CFP and not in sales for B&H or or this company. I write this only because I never write review and discount most of them. 5

Just received this, plugged it in to my ancient ATI Radeon HD 5770 DVI-D port on my equally ancient MacPro 2006 model, and then into a far less ancient Dell U2717D monitor and without even having to mess with any settings on the Gefen device, I immediately started getting 2560x1440! At long last! Have tried numerous cable adapters that claimed to be DVD-D Dual Link - HDMI, but not one worked. I have only few complaints. 1. The LED's on the front are really bright. Not something you want in you line of sight. 2. I haven't opened it, but I feel like it could easily be redesigned into an in-line adapter that would be much smaller. It truly weighs next to nothing. 3. The cost is pretty high, but at least B&H has it for (currently) more than $50 less than what Amazon is selling it for. For the cost, it really could have included DVI and Mini-DP cables. None of which makes want to give it less than 5 stars as now I can run all three ports from my video card at 2560x1440 which is just awesome! 5
