Simply access a switch via your Web browser and log on to monitor, configure, and control each port's activity. It also supports SNMP V1/V2c. In addition, the switch supports Quality of Service (QoS), port mirroring, and tag- and port-based VLAN.

This switch not only supports Layer 2 802.1p Priority Queue control, but it also provides enhanced QoS support for real-time applications like Voice over IP (VoIP). And it supports Layer 4 TCP/UDP port and ToS classification.

Port mirroring copies traffic from one specific port to a second target port. This mechanism enables you to track network errors or abnormal packet transmissions without interrupting the flow of data. All ports on the switch are capable of port mirroring.

You can use VLAN to isolate traffic between different users and thus provide better security. Plus VLAN enables you to confine the broadcast traffic to the same VLAN broadcast domain to boost network performance. IGMP V1/V2 snooping limits bandwidth-intensive multicast traffic to only the requesters.

The switch enables you to combine ports to create a multilink, load-sharing trunk. Port trunks are useful for switch-to-switch cascading, which provides very fast, full-duplex speeds for high-volume communications. All ports are autosensing for speed and auto-negotiating for duplex. The switch's Auto MDI/MDI-X feature means you never need a crossover cable. Furthermore, the switch supports IEEE 802.x flow control for full-duplex mode and collision-based backpressure for half-duplex mode.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can an individual POE port on this switch be scheduled to turn on and/or off automatically (based on a schedule that you setup)?

A: Unless scheduling has been added as a feature in the Unifi Controller, PoE status can not be scheduled. It is either on or off, with additional features such as indicating whether passive or active PoE and such.

Q: 2. Can this be powered by a PoE injector?

A: Yes, the Ubiquiti Networks UniFi Switch Flex 5-Port Managed Gigabit PoE Network Switch BH #UBUSWFLEX can be powered by PoE injector.

Q: 3. can i use this with Ubiquiti Networks UniFi Managed PoE+ Gigabit 8 Port Switch with SFP (150 W) if not any advice which one can i use ?

A: Per Ubiquiti's datasheet for this product, the recommended power methods are the Unifi 50V/60W PoE adapter (not included; BH #UBPOE5060W), and the Unifi USW-24-POE and USW-Pro-24-POE switches. You could use it with the switched you indicated as long as you also use the PoE adapter.

Q: 4. What is the forwarding rate in Mpps? Thanks?

A: There are different forwarding rates for each data packet size. Here they are in Mpps for each supported packet size (rounded): 10 Gb/s: 14.88 5 Gb/s: 7.44 2500 Mb/s: 3.72 1000 Mb/s: 1.49 100 Mb/s: 0.15

Q: 5. Can it deliver power to the UAP-AC-LITE UniFi Access Point?

A: Yes, the Ubiquiti Networks UniFi Switch Flex 5-Port Managed Gigabit PoE Network Switch BH #UBUSWFLEX can power a single UAP-AC-LITE.

Q: 6. Does it have POE?

A: This model does not have any PoE capability. For this series, from the model number, look for a "P" after the number indicating the number of ports on the switch. For example, "CBS350-24P-4G-xx, CBS350-48P-4G-xx, and CBS350-16P-2G-xx" will have PoE.

Q: 7. What power adapter can I use with the USW-Flex Switch? I think the PoE-50-60W. Yes?

A: Yes, that is correct.

Q: 8. The Hikvision website says this is max 250W but you list 370W. Which is correct?

A: The Hikvision DS-3E0526P-E 24-Port Gigabit PoE-Compliant Unmanaged Network Switch, B&H # HIDS3E0526PE, has a 370W total PoE budget. The 250W model is the DS-3E0518P-E. Data sheet for reference: https://bit.ly/48PXJ1c

Q: 9. Can the SFP+ port be used to connect to a device? Description implies only for use as uplink.

A: The Netgear XS508M 8-Port 10-Gigabit Unmanaged Switch's SFP+ port is intended for connection to networked devices such as routers, access points, or networked storage. It should not be used for a local connection to unnetworked devices.

Q: 10. So if I upgrade to a mesh wifi router which has only one ethernet in-port than my old non-mesh wifi router, is this the right device to, in effect, add more ethernet-in ports to the mesh router? Is there a performance hit using this?

A: Yes, the TP-Link TL-SG1005P 5-Port Gigabit PoE+ Unmanaged Switch is exactly what one would use in the case you described, at no detriment to performance.

I have 1 gbps and 2.5 gbps devices. The switch auto negotiates connection speeds flawlessly. The indicator lights work and are quite helpful. Using with Nokia fiber terminal, Apple Airport Extreme, Windows, Linux, and macOS devices. It sits on my desktop, and I have not noticed any heat issues.
