Q: 1. Would this tripod work well with a mediumly rigged FS7 + Sony 18-110mm zoom lens?

A: This tripod has a 22 pound load capacity. It will depend on what is in your full rig, but it is certainly possible to use this with an FS7 depending on all of the other accessories you have. You will just need to keep the load at or below 22 pounds.

Q: 2. Has anyone checked the tripod/bag under the plane before? Is it a padded bag?

A: The case is padded, but I wouldn't trust checking it in by itself. If you remove the head from the sticks, they will fit comfortably in a large duffle bag. Then you'll still have room for extra gear :)

Also, on Miller Sticks I have a Sachtler DV6 head. I measured about 33 from the head to the feet. I'm guessing a 35 tripod case would be fine. A: It should fit, I used it with Manfrotto 502 and 516 fluid head. This is one of the best designed tripods I've ever used. One lever controls both leg extensions at the same time. Very quick setup.
