Styled in black, the Genelec L-Shape Table Stand is designed for use with a Genelec 8020 studio monitor. This stand lifts up the speaker from the table, resulting in fewer reflections from nearby surfaces, and eliminating comb filtering in the process. The stand also makes it easier to get the loudspeaker’s acoustical focus towards the listening position while keeping cables in place. The stand offers a 0 to 20° upward tilt/angle adjustment and supports vertical speaker orientation.

A: Our units ship as 120 VAC units only and cannot be externally switched.

Q: 2. Will this stand work with a Genelec G One Bookshelf Speaker (G1BM)?

A: Yes, the Genelec L-Shape Table Stand for 8010 Studio Monitor is also compatible for use with the Genelec G One 2-Way Powered Bookshelf Speaker.

Q: 3. What is the differnce between the 8030C and the G Three?

Q: 4. Can I connect two of these speakers to a Scarlett Solo Preamp?

A: Yes, a pair of Genelec 8020D Studio Monitors can be used alongside and receive signal from a Focusrite Scarlett Solo 2x2 USB Audio Interface with the proper cabling. The Hosa Technology Balanced 1/4" TRS Male to 3-Pin XLR Male Audio Cable (BH #HOHSX005) is an example of the type of cable required to feed each speaker: https://bhpho.to/3R26bkP

Q: 5. Can the ISS be disabled? I see that there's a DIP switch for "ISS" on the back, so I assume that's for enabling/disabling ISS, but I'd like confirmation. ISS is not a feature I need or want. Thanks!

A: An ‘ISS Disable’ switch is located on each product’s back plate next to the other room response controls. First, when the mains power switch of the loudspeaker is set to “ON”, the ISS™ auto-start function (low-power sleep state on/off) of the loudspeaker is active. If this function is not desired, the ISS™ function can be disabled by setting the “ISS Disable” switch on the back panel to “ON” position. In this mode, the monitor is only powered on and off using the mains power switch. I hope this answers your question. Thanks.

Q: 6. Is this a pair or just 1 stand?

A: Just one stand.

Q: 7. Current model on Genelec site is 8010A - what is the difference between this 8010 and 8010A?

A: The A in an 8010 model means Active since it has a built in power amp. It seems 8010 and 8010A are used interchangeably online when referring to the active speaker.

Q: 8. Is this a good monitor for everyday use on a computer with built-in sound card and 1/8" to dual XLR splitter cable?

A: The Genelec 8020D Studio Monitor (Producer Finish) is an excellent choice for everyday monitoring, and it can be used with your computer's built-in sound card if an audio interface or monitor controller is not an option.

Q: 9. Volume ntrol? Seems there is no knob on speaker..... how can you control volume? If I need external control, who makes the best?

A: There is not a volume control. although there is an input sensitivity control. The best way to control volume is by using a Mackie Big Knob: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1313074-REG/mackie_big_knob_passive_studio.html

Q: 10. DOES IT HAS ACCURATE SOUNDING

A: Yes. The 8331A SAM studio monitor is designed for professional monitoring applications that require precision and accuracy. Using Genelec's SAM technology, Smart Active Monitors have several parametric notch and shelving filters that can be tuned automatically using the Genelec Loudspeaker Manager (GLM) software to exactly compensate for colorations generated by room acoustics. This enables SAM monitors to sound neutral and achieve accurate stereo imaging in all acoustical environments.

I bought these Genelecs because I wanted to a pair of monitors that wouldn't color the content I listen too. The 8020Ds do that for me. I prefer the raw finish to the normal black finish as it complements my desk setup. At first I was hesitant about the finish, but after I saw them in person and set them up on my desk, I was very happy with the choice. I have them on K&M 26772 small desktop stands which fit them nicely.

For being a small enough to seemingly hide under a desk, the whole room can accurately hear, and feel, lows in the studio sound system.

I travel a lot with my 8020D's and this makes me feel a little more relieved.

Typical of Genelec, this bag fits the bill perfectly. The pockets are good for a small monitor controller and short cables. Although not listed these fit the 8020D monitors as well. The zips are solid and the small platform that fits inside the bottom adds a lot of stability to the bag. There is a sectional as well to keep the devices from crashing into each other during transport so your Gennys will be well protected.

I am about 8 months in with a pair of 8020D and I know I can rely on the quality and hopefully durability will be great as well.

Purchased a pair of 8020D to sit atop my digital piano / keyboard for practice with virtual piano from the computer. The design, shape and integrated stand give it a smaller feel than its actual size. I wanted something that didn't look large, imposing, or boxy. At first I tried the smaller 8010s, but they are so diminutive that it felt a bit wrong having such small monitors. Also for playing loud the 8010s are at the top of their ability. These 8020D are a bit larger than the 8010 but still small enough for my needs. The 3inch driver is twice the size (area) of the 8010, its twice as powerful, and the bass response is significantly better. Fantastic sound.

Connected to my audio interface by balanced XLR. 8020D manual explicitly states you can connect to unbalanced line out by using the appropriate cable, and there is an input gain adjustment to accommodate different line levels. Dip switches allow tuning base to work with the room and desktop acoustics, and both are useful in my application. I apply a little eq in my DAW to flatten out for room resonance (which is easy to tune by ear as you play up and down the piano). There are other speakers that have their own digital processing to tune themselves to your room acoustics. But for playing piano live I didn't want that feature, because it adds more latency.

Good solo piano sound is hard because lumps in the frequency response make certain notes stand out and distract, there aren't other instruments in the mix to hide flaws, and poor sound can put one off playing. Headphones are great for practice too, but the experience of playing out loud is different. Its worth spending on the monitors. These are great.

I have several kinds of genelecs ((3) 8030B with a 7050 sub) and have used these products for over 20 years. My studio changed from 5.1 to 7.1. I had 8020Cs as my rear speakers. I added these 8020D's. There are slight differences, like the volume is on the back and needs a Greenie to adjust. A bit more power, but for the most part, hook them up, tweak the room and go.

I have three different Genelec monitors (8010, 8020 and 8030). The 8020s are really the sweet spot with a super clean sound and more bass vs the 8010s. The 8030s are also amazing, but a bigger investment.

The producer grey aluminum Genelecs are gorgeous. It almost seems designed to go with my space grey MacBook Pro and Universal Audio X8p audio interface for Logic/Luna. The compact form factor still sounds as good as it looks and has a big sound for my small bedroom home studio. I also have the tiny 8010s for remote recording projects and playing back from a Roland RD88 keyboard
