$377.85 $547.88

This Series 9 Tiffen ND Filter is a solid neutral density filter providing a 1.6-stop exposure. This 0.5 density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required. By increasing your aperture or slowing your exposure time, you can control depth of field and convey movement more easily. Neutral density filters do not affect the coloration of the image and are ideal for pairing with other filters.

This filter is made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between two pieces of optical glass, grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, and then mounting to precision metal rings. This filter is compatible with Series 9 filter holders.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How thick is the glass?

A: its fair enoght to be strong i think its may be about 2mm or may be more

Q: 2. does this fit the p series cokin holder which is 52 mm? Is there a higher stop nd filter up to 10 stops {like the lee big stop nd filter) in cokin, lee or tiffen that will fit my p series filter holder from cokin?

A: The Tiffen Cokin P Neutral Density (ND) 0.9 Glass Filter will fit in the Cokin P filter holder. All of the Cokin P filter holders are the same size, and accommodate any filter designed for the Cokin P system. We carry several 10-stop ND filters for the Cokin P filter holder. You can find those on the following link. http://bhpho.to/1f0KEmy

Q: 3. Apart from the lack of the self-locking mechanism, are there other disadvantages of this model comparing to the self-locking one?

A: Aside from the density range and the locking feature, there is no other difference.

Q: 4. Does this filter have coatings to reduce flare and internal reflections?

A: No, this is not a coated filter.

Q: 5. Can I use this filter with original lens shades? EF 70-200 2.8 & EF 24-105 for example.

A: Yes. The Tiffen 77mm ND 1.2 Filter does not interfere with the use of the manufacturer's lens hood.

Q: 6. Will this filter fit the Canon 70-200 lens?

A: This filter will fit the f2.8 version of the 70-200 but is too big for the f4 version of the 70-200 lens.

Q: 7. Tiffen ND 0.9 filter dark enough for taking water fall ?

A: The best ND filter for photographing Waterfalls will vary based on the shooting conditions and the effect you are looking to achieve. By experimenting you will discover what works best for you. A 3-Stop ND filter is a good place to start. I would suggest getting a Circular Polarizer as well. A Circular Polarizer will reduce reflections off the water, and block some light as well. Here is a link where you can find Circular Polarizers on our site. https://bhpho.to/3xMEALl

Q: 8. Hi, I own a Canon 60D with the Canon EOS 18-135mm kit lens. I am wondering if this Tiffen ND filter fits my lens or not. If not, can you provide me a link of the right filter I am looking for? I need a 3x and a 6x (maybe even a 9x).Thanks-Gianluca

A: The Canon 18-135mm lens uses 67mm sized filters. This one in question is too large as it is a 77mm size. Below is a link to all of the 67mm sized ND filters we offer on our website. On the left hand side are search result filters you may select to result only ones which suit your criteria, which they do have a section to narrow down based on density.http://bhpho.to/1pBCrIB

Q: 9. Will this filter (Tiffin 4x4 1.6 ND) fit in a Cokin holder? Buyers say it won't fit in a Lee holder and Specs don't list thikness dimensions.

A: The filter is 4mm thick. Lee filters makes filter guides that are 4mm thick. The foundation kit does not supply that guide. The link for that guide is a href= http://bhpho.to/1iXS5y5. target= _blank http://bhpho.to/1iXS5y5./a

Q: 10. How thick is this filter?

A: The Tiffen 4 x 4 ND 0.6 Filter is 4mm thick.

It is what I needed for a great price. I've been happy with all the other tiffen filters I have bought, and this is no exception

I am using this on a Pentax 1 degree Spotmeter, that I use with a pair of Summicron's on leica m4 and m4-2 bodies. Max Shutter on the leica is 1/1000. F-stops max out at f22 If I shoot ASA 400 film it's hard to get a decent range on shutter speeds and f-stops on bright days (say EV 17 and higher), So I use ND filters to bring in a better range. I use this filter on the meter. I have two NDs (ND1 and ND2) for the Pentax and two (of the same) for the Summicrons. So far it seems to work well. A little awkward but doable. There a lot more I could say, but I may run out of character allotment, I'll keep it simple.

Nice high quality filter that does its job very well. I recommend sticking with the same brand/size for your other filters if you're using a gimbal so you don't need to rebalance when swapping.

Great for longer exposures and nighttime photography. I was able to capture great photos of the full moon without overexposure.
