Dedicated to the Canon Speedlite EL-1, the SCF-EL Color Filter Set is a pair of hard-type clip-on filters that help to warm the flash's cooler color temperature output to create a warmer aesthetic. The SCF-ELOR1 Color Filter is a light orange filter that merges incandescent lighting conditions for a warmer mood. The SCF-ELOR2 Color Filter is a dark orange filter that is useful for balancing out the red fogging typical of interior lighting, for more natural and realistic light quality. Both of the filters attach and detach to the flash head with a simple snap-on design.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this flash compatible with the ST-E3-RT Speedlite Transmitter and EOS 1Dx Mk III? Is the transmitter needed with this camera?

A: Yes, this works with the STE3RT and the 1DxIII works directly without a transmitter.

Q: 2. I know it will work using a 430exii as the trigger. How would the recycle time be if the 430 does not fire but simply triggers the EL-1? (I'd hope it would still be just as fast as if it were on-camera!)

A: The 430exii offers very slow recycle time as it is a consumer based unit with no option for a high volt power pack. We suggest looking into the following unit as it will keep up in a more demanding environment. Godox TT685C II Flash for Canon Cameras BH #GOTT685IIC • MFR #TT685IIC https://bhpho.to/3QdhY0w

Q: 3. Can the flash be remotely triggered using the Pocket wizard Plus lll ?

A: Yes you can but you would need another pocket wizard to connect to the sync port on the Canon EL-1, but then you can trigger it remotely with the Pocket Wizard Plus III.

Q: 4. Will Canon also release a new upgrade transmitter along with EL1?

A: As of the date/time of this reply, Canon has not announced a new wireless radio transmitter. Canon states that the Canon EL-1 Speedlite Flash is compatible with Canon's RT wireless radio transmission system, and as such, would be compatible for use with the current Canon ST-E3-RT Wireless Radio Transmitter, as well as the Canon 600EX II-RT, 600EX-RT, and the 430EX III-RT Speedlite Flashes for wireless radio triggering usage needs.

Q: 5. will this work with the 1st gen 600 EX-RT?

A: No, it is not compatible with the older 600ex RT flash. It is only compatible with the Canon 600EX II-RT.

Q: 6. will this flash accept canon's off-camera flash cord?

A: Yes, the EL-1 is compatible with the, Canon OC-E3 Off Camera Shoe Cord (2') BH #CAOCE3 • MFR #1950B001 https://bhpho.to/3qyio4M

Q: 7. Can you power this flash with rechargeable AA batteries?

A: The Canon Speedlite EL-1 does not work with AA batteries; it works with the Canon LP-EL Lithium-Ion Battery Pack.

Q: 8. will this fit on the yongnuo yn600ex-rt? if not does the hard gel kit from the previous version fit? Thanks

A: The SCF-E3 will fit on the Yongnuo yn600ex-rt. But the Canon 600ex has sensors which can detect which of their gels are being used. The Yongnuo does not have those sensors.

Q: 9. Can I use the same Quantum SC Battery Packs/Canon Power Cords as I used with my Canon 600 EX Flash?

A: Yes this flash can accept the same high voltage battery cables as the 600EX RT flash.

Q: 10. I am surprised nobody still asked this: will it work with Godox XProC? At least the frequency range is the same.

A: Canon Speedlite EL-1 will not work with Godox XproC. You will need Canon Speedlite Transmitter ST-E3-RT (Ver. 2) BH #CASTE3RTV2 • MFR #5743B012 to trigger the Canon Speedlite EL-1 wirelessly.

Expensive and heavy, but able to shoot at 12 frames per second. Incredible!

I would have said, You're crazy, about my paying $900 for an on-camera flash but while my credit card still whimpers every time I open the B&H webpage, I love this flash.

I do primarily model photography which often means shooting almost as fast as you can. Previously, I've relied on an Godox AD360 with battery pack and even it starts slowing down after a few hundred shots. Using the Godox means a tripod and umbrella to get good results but when you are working in tight quarters and changing locations, it's a challenge.

Recently, I bought the ProMediaGear BBGV2 Boomerang Flash Bracket along with the Canon Speedlite EL-1 for my Canon R5. The Boomerang bracket takes the weight off the R5 and lets you quickly switch from vertical to horizontal formats easily.

On my first photoshoot with the EL-1, I couldn't believe how fast the recycle time was. Instantaneous would be my assessment of the recycle time, I kid you not. With the R5's fantastic eye autofocus system, I could basically tape the shutter button down and not miss a shot.

The Canon EL-1 supports the R5's electronic zoom and flash controls perfectly. As an old school photographer, what would be perfect would be to move the capacitors out of the flash to an external battery pack like similar to the old Metz 202 style lightweight and powerful potato masher flashes.

If you have a Canon EOS camera and need a powerful and rapid recycling flash, take a look at the EL-1.

If you want something that won't let you down, won't overheat, and will 'just work' don't look back and buy the thing.

Yes, 1000 bucks is an insane amount of money to pay for a speed lite, but after having my Godox v860iic missing shot after shot and ultimately bricking itself on its second outing, in the middle of an event (with no recourse or warranty support...yes, those people are thieves and it's highway robbery), buying the Canon beast was a no brainer.

Recently purchased the EL-1 as and upgrade to my 580 EX II. The 200 dollar rebate was a great incentive as I've been researching the EL-1 since it was announced. Sure glad I pulled the trigger on this flash for my R5. Of course, in time I plan to go all radio triggering, but for now the EL-1 is backwards compatible with optical triggering with my 5 and 4 series EX flash units so that's a plus and a nice feature! Great upgrade Canon!

Big step forward over my 580 MkII. It is quite a bit larger so that takes a bit of getting used to, but the performance makes up for the size
