Made from 3mm-thick shock-absorbing closed-cell neoprene, the LensCoat TravelCoat, in RealTree's Max 5 camouflage pattern, blends into your surroundings when you're out in the woods and on or near water. It offers a custom fit for your Nikon 180-400 TC 1.4X FL VR lens, protecting it from bumps and scratches to preserve its finish and condition without taking up extra room. The insulated design provides a thermal barrier between your hands and the lens surface when you are working in cold temperatures, and it is water resistant so your lens is protected when you are working in rainy weather. The TravelCoat fits over your lens and stays attached with touch-fasteners, so you can get it off easily and start shooting. This cover is made for use with the lens hood on in the reverse position and it is compatible with a stock or replacement foot.

Related Questions and Answers
Q: 1. Is this lens meant to be used only on a tripod?
A: It's POSSIBLE to use it hand-held, but the great majority of people use a monopod or tripod and ideally a gimbal head. Gimbal heads are perfect for this lens. This lens is in a whole different league than the 80-400 or even 200-500 lens. You'll really benefit from the support. Years ago, I took 18,000 photos with the 200-400 f4 lens and D3 (almost identical to the 180-400) - and I took those all hand-held - and for a WEEK after that - I couldn't raise my left arm!!! Right after that I bought my first tripod and gimbal head. You CAN use it hand-held - but you won't really want to. It's not fun.
Q: 2. Hello Ladies and Gentlemen's I just bought this lens and I am about to purchase the camera body to attach it to the lens . I was doing my research and find out from Nikon website that Nikon D6 it is not listed as compatible camera body with this lens! Is it true or Nikon is so incompetent/lazy to update their own website?! I own pretty much all Nikon digital camera's including Nikon D6 but as I am waiting for the lens to arrive I thought that I am doing some research. All sensible answers are welcome, Kind regards S.
A: Though not listed, it should be compatible with the Nikon D6 as the D6 is one of the newest camera options from Nikon.
Q: 3. Is it possible to buy only the part that fits over the lens hood?
A: When it comes to the LensCoat Lens Cover for Nikon NIKKOR Z 600mm f/4 TC VR S Lens (Realtree Max4) you can not get the camo cover for just the hood and that appears to be the case with most other brands as well. A potential solution is to get a LensCoat TravelHood (Large, Realtree MAX-4), BH# LETHLM4.
Q: 4. Is it fully compatible with the Nikon Z7? Is the quality the same when photographed with a DSLR?
A: Yes it is fully compatible with the Z7 when using the Nikon FTZ adapter. The image quality is not affect by the adapter.
Q: 5. Is this a true addition or an expensive replacement to the Nikon 200-400 F4?If I slapped a 1.4x TC on the end Id have a similar piece of glass for about half the price.
A: The 180-400 is a VERY significant improvement over the 200-400 f4. I've owned 3 copies of the 200-400. The 180-400 is much better. You will understand the joy of the built-in converter if you've tried putting on and taking off a regular TC. I've even used my 180-400 with internal TC engaged AND added an external 1.4 x TC as well. If you can afford this lens, it's worth it.
Q: 6. How would this body bag work on an Olympus PEN E-P2 camera with the M.Zuiko ED 14-42mm F3.5-5.6 EZ lens attached?
A: Yes, the LensCoat BodyBag 4/3 can hold the Olympus PEN E-PL2 with the M.Zuiko ED 14-42mm F3.5-5.6 EZ lens attached.
Q: 7. Is the lens foot removable?
A: Absolutely. I replaced mine after I tried 5 different feet and found I like this one best: Kirk LP-46 Replacement Arca-Type Quick Release Lens Plate/Foot. It brings the foot much closer to the lens, and lowers the balance point of the lens and easily allows the use of this 1.5 lb gimbal head: Jobu Design Jobu Jr.3 Deluxe Gimbal Kit with Swing-Arm HM-J3D (This GREAT gimbal is HALF the weight of most other decent gimbals.)You will also find the following foot works very well, and gives added space between the lens and the foot to give your fingers more room carrying the lens with winter gloves: Jobu Design Low Profile Replacement Foot--200-400mm f4 (I have this foot on my 200-400 f4)
Q: 8. Does Nikon make a hard case for this lens? I find it hard to believe that a 12k+ lens comes only with a bag for a case!!!
A: Unfortunately, Nikon does not have a hard case designed for use with the Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 180-400mm f/4E TC1.4 FL ED VR Lens, B&H # NI1804004E. If you are looking for a hard case for your usage needs, I would recommend the Pelican 1460 Case with Foam (Black), B&H # PE1460FB, as a good option for your usage needs.
Q: 9. Are the minimum focusing distance and maximum magnification for the lens with or without the built in teleconverter?
A: The minimum focus distance is the same with or without the TC being on. With the TC it's .36 and without it's .24.
Q: 10. I have a 1.4 tele extender so will this cover fit over it and the 100-500 lens?
A: It is for the lens only. They do not make one for the lens plus a teleconverter
