There is a white rubbery plastic covering on the cable that I think is going to extend the life for sure. Charges fast! However, I am in my car quiet a bit and after having a cheap cord bite the dust at the worst time I decided to try this one. It is such an upgrade. The plug is sturdy and the cord has a thick coating yet is still flexible. I am definitely buying more of these. 5
