This switch sports four SFP+ ports and four 10GbE SFP+/ RJ45 combo ports. These combo ports are compatible with 10GbE and NBase-T technologies to support five speeds including 10, 5, 2.5, and Gigabit Ethernet, as well as 100M Fast Ethernet speed, all via existing cables.

The QNAP Switch System (QSS) is easy to use and provides an overview dashboard, port management, and a setting guide, making central network management intuitive.

Utilize Layer 2 management features such as LACP, VLAN, ACL, and LLDP so IT can efficiently control network bandwidth and enhance security.

Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol (RSTP) easily and efficiently deploys small and medium-scale networks that support expansion, redundancy, and loop prevention.

Compliant with IEEE 802.3az Energy Efficient Ethernet and IEEE 802.3x Flow Control in full-duplex mode, the QSW-M804-4C avoids packet loss from unparalleled bandwidth and reduces power consumption for low-speed and inactive connections.

QSS can be updated with just one click, helping IT staff ensure their network security.

The QSW-M804-4C provides four SFP+ and four SFP+/RJ45 combo ports for connecting different interfaces. With RJ45 interfaces, 10GbE is supported using Cat 6a (or above) cables. Direct Attach Copper (DAC) cables can be used with SFP+ ports for connecting to servers inside a rack. The switching capacity of the QSW-M804-4C is 160 Gb/s, guaranteeing the full potential of each port. The QSW-M804-4C is also compatible with 10GbE and NBase-T technologies to support up to five speeds: 10G, 5G, 2.5G, 1G, and 100M. The SFP+/RJ45 combo ports provide higher transmission speeds with existing cables. Depending on cable types and their lengths, different speeds can be achieved for faster, more efficient data transfer. Please note, if the distance between the switch and the device is less than 148', a Cat 6 cable can be used to achieve 10 Gb/s speeds.

The QNAP Switch System (QSS) features an easy-to-use Web GUI. At-a-glance major functions, flat control layers, and one-click login simplify setup and management. Furthermore, the GUI's visual illustration matches physical ports for greater usability. Use the settings guide, status chart reference, and online firmware updates to reduce learning and management costs.

View real-time system information, port connection status, port traffic, and packet statistics, and configure port speeds. A convenient step-by-step guide and intro will have you up and running in two shakes. Plus, with exclusive status chart referencing, you can refer to four major status charts during each configuration, eliminating the need to go back and forth between different settings pages. Online firmware checking and updates allow you to easily keep your QSW-M804-4C secure.

The QSW-M804-4C provides bandwidth and packet control functions such as LACP, VLAN, QoS, and IGMP snooping to boost network performance through IP grouping and bandwidth management.

Powerful security and system functions including ACL, LLDP, RSTP, and Flow Control help administrators enhance network reliability using access controls, troubleshooting, loop prevention, and avoid packet loss.

With its smart cooling system, the QSW-M804-4C ensures high-speed network performance without distracting background noise. IEEE 802.3az (EEE) support also reduces power consumption without sacrificing performance or functionality. By dynamically detecting link speeds and activities and adjusting accordingly, the QSW-M804-4C provides energy savings of up to 50% to minimize operational costs.

The QSW-M804-4C features a modern design intended to blend in at home or the office. A rackmount hardware kit is included to provide extra installation options.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can I upgrade to 64GB RAM / memory slot for a total of 128GB?

A: QNAP TS-873A-8G 8-Bay NAS Enclosure (BH #QNTS873A8GUS) supports up to a total of 64GB of memory.

Q: 2. Does it need a license like Meraki?

A: No additional licenses are required to use the Aruba Instant On 1930.

Q: 3. Does the switch include rack-mounting hardware?

A: The Aruba Instant On 1960 12XGT 12-Port 10G Managed Network Switch with SFP+ does include the mounting hardware.

Q: 4. What is the recommended/compatible RAM for an upgrade?

A: The QNAP TS-473A 4-Bay NAS Enclosure with QSW-1105-5T Network Switch can support up to a Maximum of 64GB of RAM. We recommend using QNAP SODIMM DDR4 RAM, such as the QNAP 16GB DDR4 Ram 2666 MHz SO-DIMM Memory Module (K1 Version)(BH #QN16GK1S2666).

Q: 5. Does this come with rackmount ears?

A: A rackmount kit is included with the QNAP QSW-IM1200-8C.

Q: 6. Are the SFP ports vendor locked? What compatibilities should I be looking for on a 10Gb SFP+ to RJ45 transceiver?

A: The SFP ports on the QNAP QSW-2104-2S 6-Port 10GbE/2.5GbE Unmanaged Switch are not vendor locked. As long as the SFP+ to RJ45 adapter module supports 10GbE, it will supply full 10GbE speeds to the RJ45.

Q: 7. If a 25Gbe PCIE expansion card (B&H # QNQXG25G2SFX) is used, will this be able to read fast enough to supply data at 25Gbe?

A: Read speeds on the QNAP TS-873A 8-Bay NAS Enclosure with QSW-1105-5T Network Switch will vary depending on RAID configuration, drives used, and the data being read, however the NAS is unlikely to to saturate a 25 GbE connection.

Q: 8. How many free licenses are provided to connect IP cameras?

A: The QNAP TS-473A-8G-US 4-Bay NAS Enclosure, B&H # QNTS473A8GUS, comes with QVR Pro which includes 8 free built-in camera channels.

Q: 9. Is it possible to set-up two of the bays/drives as a raid1 volume and the other two drives as a different raid1 volume?

A: Yes, the QNAP TS-473A-8G-US 4-Bay NAS Enclosure does support multiple RAID families within its 4-bay architecture.

Q: 10. Does it support hardware transcoding?

A: According to QNAP, "a compatible NVIDIA graphics card must be installed in your NAS to enable hardware transcoding." You can find more details, as well as the official QNAP compatibility list for hardware acceleration, here: https://bhpho.to/47lbGD5

I removed my old unmanaged 1gb switch and put this one in its place. It was plug-and-play. Much faster not quite 10x faster maybe 8x in real-world use.

Using the 10 gigabit ports really speed up access to my NAS. Easy to configure and so far works great.

Out of the box using 10G hardware, I was getting slow speeds that were far below even 1G. After some troubleshooting, applying the latest firmware (1.1.0.20220128 for me) immediately did the trick and I now experience what is reasonable for a 10G connection.

I am a fan of QNAP products, and this has delivered the goods as well.
