Q: 4. My computer only has a standard USM Port. Should I buy a USB C to USM cable (which will slow transfer speed down) or is there an adapter that I can buy for the computer?

A: If your computer has an older USB 2.0 connection, the only way to connect the San Disk PRO-Reader CFExpress Card Reader is through a cable such as the Pearstone USB 2.0 Type-C to USB Type-A Charge & Sync Cable (6'), BH # PEUSB3CMAM6 which will slow down the transfer speed. The USB port in your computer would have to be USB 3.0 or higher in order to have a faster transfer speed.

A: You will need a way to power the reader at the same time as powering the unit. You can use the Lightning to USB adapter, then in port two plug the power in. For Plug one, you can obtain a USB-C to USB-A and then plug that into the Lightning adapter. If needed, you can also get a USB-A 3.0 male to female adapter.

Q: 8. Does this card reader make the CFexpress card very hot?

Q: 9. Is it possible to unformat this card? How?

A: If you have formatted your card by accident, immediately stop using the card to avoid writing over storage sectors and contact your manufacturer to see if they provide recovery software with purchase of your memory card. Sony and Sandisk (the most popular CFExpress Type A/B card) provide this free of charge but require a software key or memory card serial number.

I am an amateur bird photographer and often take hundreds of pictures during an outing. I purchased a Type B card reader from another source, only to discover there is a big difference between CFexpress and other Type B cards. This time, I did what I should have done in the first place and initiated a live chat with a B&H tech. representative. After explaining what I needed to do and what I had to do it with, the rep. steered me to the right products and answered questions about the differences between similar products. I finally selected the SanDisk Extreme Pro as it is cheaper but has the same rate of data transfer as some other brands, and a two year warranty. It downloads RAW picture files from my camera much faster than cable or WiFi and puts the data right where I want it. This product is a good value, just don't make my mistake and make sure it is the right card reader for your application.

This reader is so much better than others like the Ziyuetek that I've used. That one heats up the card so much that I can hardly touch it. The SanDisk never heats up and employs a spring loaded system that securely grabs the card when inserted. The form factor makes it easy to grasp and securely insert the card.

This is my first CF express card and CFexpress Type B Card Reader, and it is so much faster than my previous cards and readers. Even better, the knowledge and great customer service of B&H was a pleasant surprise. Will always call B&H for my photo needs.

I've now used this Type B Card Reader for awhile and find it excellent. It doesn't heat up anything close to as much as others do. Others heat too hot to handle. It is quick to load and eject.
