Expand your port options with the HyperDrive Viper 10-in-2 USB Type-C Hub in space gray from HYPER. Designed for use with one- or two-port USB Type-C devices, this hub provides two HDMI and three USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports, as well as ports for Gigiabit Ethernet, 3.5mm audio, and USB Type-C with 60W of power delivery. UHS-1 SD and microSD card readers are also present. One USB Type-C host connection enables one HDMI port, while the other Type-C connector allows access to the other nine ports. This hub can be used with a single device or two different devices at the same time.

Q: 1. Are the two USB-C ports on the hyperdrive equivalent? The second one does not seem to work for charging or for connecting a thunderbolt display adaptor (which means I cannot charge and have the display connected at the same time)? Is my purchased product malfunctioning?

A: @Sinem S, It is not malfunction. The secondary USBC port is a DATA port, it does not do charging and video. Only the Primary USBC port has power charging and video feature.

Q: 2. Can both HDMI ports be used at the sametime for monitors back to a laptop on the USBC?

A: Yes, it is dual 4K 60Hz HDMI output.

Q: 3. Can this charge my iphone 7 when I plug it into the usb 3 port?

A: Yes, this usb hub works just fine, but if you plan to use it with a macbook with a case, it will not sit properly. Get the one with a cable instrad if you your macbook has a casing.

Q: 4. Can this be used when there is only 1 USB-C port on the laptop?

A: No, this requires both USB-C ports to use it.

Q: 5. Does this power a Lacie Rugged via thunderbolt 2 connection for other owners?...ours doesnt seem to provide power to our 4tb rugged raid.

A: I am not sure why we would need the adapter. Lacie already has a thunderbolt cable attached. I am experiencing the same issue.

A: Yes, this is compatible with the 16" MacBook Pro line of machines.

Q: 7. does the built-in usb-c cable provide charging for the laptop or do I need to use the other 100w port ?

A: If the laptop requires 100W, you should pug it into the 100W usb type-c port with the proper cable.

A: Yes, this hub is specifically designed for a 13" or 15" MacBook Pro built in 2016, 2017, or 2018

Q: 9. It looks like this obscures part of the speaker/mic - how big of an impact does this make on sound quality?

A: it doesn't impact on the sound quality at all you have same sound as you had before nothing will change

A: It is not specified but based on the length and the image it is approximately 6".

The HyperDrive VIPER 10-in-2 has worked flawlessly. I have two monitor setup with keyboard and mouse attached. The competitor port I was using lost keyboard and mouse functionality and I had to boot or disconnect and reconnect port to get my mouse and keyboard back. In the time I have been using the HyperDrive I have not had one single incidence. 5

Returned Aukey 9-2 Hub that had design issues with M1 MBP and got the Hyperdrive Viper 10-2. Works perfectly. Since I only needed one HDMI port it has nice convenience to use only one of the USB-C ports from the MBP, freeing up the other for general use. Very pleased. 5

Good quality and supports two full-HD screens on 75hz with my MacBook Pro. I’m using both hdmi ports, two USB ports, the usb c port for powering and the Ethernet port. (Had to set a fixed IP to prevent the Ethernet port from getting stuck after putting the laptop into ‘sleep’ mode). 5

Works exactly as it should and allows for two monitors to be plugged into that same extension avoiding multiple wires to plug into the computer. 5
