The 2.9 lb R2204 Carbon Fiber Tripod from Sirui is a 4-section support with carbon fiber-constructed tubes and a twist-leg lock system. You can disengage the locks; therefore, the legs are extendable, along with the rapid center column, to a maximum height of 64.2". With variable leg angles, you can splay the legs out, so the tripod drops to a minimum height of 15.2". Even with the low height, the center column is reversible to get closer to the ground, which is ideal for macro photography. The unique wing-nut design locks the collar to keep the center column at its required height, and the tripod folds to a length of 20.7" to easily transport or store away. The rubber feet retract back to expose the stainless-steel spikes to further stabilize the tripod on icy surfaces or soft terrain.

Q: 1. Is the minimum height really 5"? If so, how does it do that? Thanks

A: This height is achieved by tilting the legs all the way out and when using the short center column.

Q: 2. Does the listed height (with center column retracted) include the ball head or is it to the to of the spot the ballhead mounts on?

A: Hi, that height includes the ball head height.

Q: 3. I have a Fujifilm X-T3 I want to be able to snap in my camera on the ball head. Will this allow that to happen or does it have to screw in?

A: This is a quick release had but not a snap in, more or less a slide in plate, just as quick and easy.

Q: 10. Will a RRS BH55 ball head work with this tripod?

A: Yes, the RRS BH55 ball head will work with the Sirui R-2204 carbon fiber tripod. Due to the BH55's large base diameter, it will likely cause the R2204's reverse-fold mechanism to close slightly wider.

This is my first lightweight tripod after many years of using a heavy video tripod for photography. It folds down smaller, the ball head holds my camera and heaviest lenses just fine, and it's something I wouldn't mind carrying for a few hours. My setup is fairly light; Sony A6000 with Rokinon 14mm f2.8, Tokina 50-200 f3.5-4.5 are the heaviest lenses I own. I have tried a few other lightweight tripods in stores and they seemed a little bit too flexible, this Sirui tripod seems to be much more rigid than the others brands and models I've seen. I mainly use the tripod for long exposures, so although I want a light tripod that can put in a daypack, it needed to be steady in order for it to be useful. I prefer flip locks and these seem to be well constructed. I'm a little concerned about the leg angle locks, as they are plastic, but I'm pretty careful with my equipment, so knowing that it's a point of potential failure, I will try not to put unreasonable force on them when moving the legs.

I am using this tripod with a Canon 5D and a 150-600 mm lens. I have the Sigma lens which is heavier than the Canon lens, but this tripod has no difficulty with keeping everything steady for some great images. I bought the E-20 ball head which i like very much. Having a ball head is so much easier to use than a two dimensional design. I am not familiar with the E-10 ball head so can not make a comment on the cheaper head. The tripod not only can handle the weight of a large lens, but also is light in weight itself. I will use this tripod as my travel tripod and the low weight is a definite plus.

I went into B&H looking for a smaller travel tripod. Something bigger than my Gorilla Pod and smaller than my aluminium 3 stage unit. I was hoping for a carbon fibre unit but not as big as this one. But it was clear after the hands on in the shop that this was what I was looking for. A solid, well built but light tripod. It packs up small given its maximum height and best of all it is capable of sitting very low to the ground thanks to a removable center pole that can be replace with a 4 inch section. The legs can flatten out. I wish it was a little bit smaller because for travel I don't need the full 5'+ height this unit is capable of.

This tripod is amazing! I didn't know a travel pod could be this sturdy and light. It came well packaged with very good directions, along with a mail-rebate worth 15%!
The E-20 Ball Head makes it easy to line up the target and holds the position you select, unlike some others I've used that seem to creep one way or another. It holds my Nikon D850 with my 150-600mm lens solidly with a twist of the wrist.

A great tripod!

I wanted a relatively light but strong enough tripod for my Canon 1Dx Mark 2, with a 28-700 zoom, and this fits the bill perfectly. I had a 20 year-old Slik that I've passed along to my grandson, and must say that I appreciate the advances in tripod technology. Light, easy to set up, I can use the case or strap the tripod on when hiking in the foothills for a photo shoot.

Very steady. Holds my D810 with vertical grip and Tamron 150-600 very well. It's very light and folds up small. Great travel pod.

Love the tripod. The snaps hold the tripod leg sections tight. I have had problems in the past with tripod legs that twist. Plenty tall, terrific carry bag. Ball head easy to use. A+ all around.

Many hours spent looking for a great travel tripod. While the price is low, quality is very high. Final two in consideraction Gitzo and Sirui. Ball head on ET-2204 far superior. This little setup carries a Canon 5D Mark lll w/100-400, 1.4 extender on a Wimberly foot and is rock stable. Height will accommodate a shooter up to 6' tall, and fold into 18 to be stored in a very nice case. Gitzo may have the background, but thier technology has been copied very well.
