Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does is this pan head compatible with Slik Pro 400DX tripod?

A: I used it on a SLIK U112 tripod, long out of production. The key was the 1/4 fastener. It swapped right out. And what an improvement: lighter, more compact, and a less delicate shoe locking method. But the killer benefit is.......... the level!

Q: 2. Does this convert to a landscape mode for the arm?

A: Yes, the center column can be used as a horizontal arm for shooting straight down.

Q: 3. Is the tripod head reversible?

A: Unfortunately, the column on this tripod is not reversible. However, the column can be set on a 90 degree, allowing the head to be positioned at a lower angle.

Q: 4. What size quick release plate does this use?

A: It uses the Slik 618-740 quick release plate, which seems to be no longer available. https://bhpho.to/3aE1BaD

Q: 5. Hello! I am wondering how well would this head (as compared to a fluid video head) would work for occasional video taking of surfers? Quick moving subject under a lot of light. Thanks

A: If you're using a regular pan tilt head for video instead of a fluid head, then the smoothness of the footage will depend entirely on how well you can move the arms on your own. Starts/stops will be jerky. It probably won't be the best footage possible but it will do the job in a pinch.

Q: 6. Does this tripod come with a quick release plate? I recently purchased the Manfrotto L bracket and want to make sure it's compatible.

A: Yes it does come with Manfrotto 200PL Quick Release Plate

Q: 7. is the foot/base interchangable?

A: No, it is not. You may screw the foot in to expose the spike in the center of the foot when using the monopod on uneven terrain, or you may unscrew it out to only use the rubber portion on flat, even surfaces, but the foot is not designed to be removed.

Q: 8. Will this fit a Canon EOS Rebel T7?

A: Yes, you can use that tripod with a canon T7. Note the manufacture does not list the support weight of the tripod. Best is not to use the T7 with a heavy long lens. If you do have a long lens a stronger tripod would be safer to use.

Q: 9. Looking at the photos, I see only two locking knobs/handles, whereas SH-705E appears to have three. The official description is identical for both. Is this correct?

A: The items are not exactly identical. While both tripod heads are 3-way pan/tilt heads, the Slik SH-705E 3-Way Pan/Tilt Head is stronger, having a maximum load capacity of 9.9 lbs (4.5 kg), and has a locking knob on the panning axis to lock the panning position in place in addition to the two locking tilt handles. The Slik SH-704E 3-Way Pan/Tilt Head has a lower maximum load capacity of 4.5 lbs (2.04 kg), and while it does have two locking tilt handles, it does not have a locking knob on the panning axis to lock the panning position in place.

Q: 10. is the 28.4 inch folded height with the pan tilt head attached? And can the pan tilt head be detached? I've got a bag I use for carry ons that is a couple inches shorter.

A: The Manfrotto MK190XPRO3-3W Aluminum Tripod with 3-Way Pan/Tilt Head has a folded length of 28.4" with the head attached. One can detach the head. Without the head this has a folded length of 23.2".

It is a very light weight easy to use product. I would recommend it to my friends.

This little head is great! I had the Slik ball head and I did not like the durability and usage of that. I bought this instead and I'm really liking it. The quick release plate is very solid and tight. The handles are a nice rubber but not that cheap kind that going to start falling apart. I put this head on my Slik Sprint mini ll and it supports my Nikon D7000 as well as a big zoom lens no problem. Highly Recommend.

I use this product with my 500DX Pro Tripod Legs. Mainly use it for slow shutter speed effects photography, taking videos and self portraits. The head is easy to use and ergonomic. The quick release is superb, no glitches, it just works. When I pan while capturing video, I wasn't able to get a smooth pan, but I think that just requires more practice on my part. Great product!

I have two of these on small tripods used with digital cameras weighing between 1 and 2 lbs. They are smooth, reliable and well built. The quick release mechanism is well designed. In use it feels like a helpful friend and not an obstacle. That can't be said for all tripod heads. This is one of the most pleasing heads I've ever used in over 30 years of camera work.
