Related Questions and Answers
Q: 1. I have the D850 and Z7 bodies. Which remote set do I need to work with both cameras?
A: Unfortunately both cameras use a different remote port. So there isn't a remote that can control both.
Q: 2. Both the WR-R11b and WR-R11a can trigger the SB5000 flash from Z6, Z6II, Z7, Z7II per NIKONUSA website. So what is the difference between them?
A: The Nikon WR-R11a is designed for use with cameras equipped with a 10-pin terminal (except some older DSLR models like the D100, D1, D1H, D1X, D200. The WR-R11a is not compatible for use with the Nikon Z6, Z6 II, Z7, or Z7 II Mirrorless Digital Cameras as they do not use the 10-pin remote terminal. The WR-R11b is compatible with cameras equipped with an accessory terminal (cannot be used with the D90, COOLPIX A, P7800, P7700, P1000, and P950). You would need the WR-R11b for use with the Nikon Z6, Z6 II, Z7, or Z7 II Mirrorless Digital Cameras.
Q: 3. Will this still connect to the camera with an L-bracket installed on the Nikon z8?
A: An L-bracket will not fit the Nikon Z8 Mirrorless Camera with the attached Nikon WR-R11b Remote Controller.
Q: 4. Will this work with a Nikon 780
A: Yes Nikon WR-R11b/WR-T10 Remote Controller Set is compatible with the Nikon D780.
Q: 5. Will this work with a D750?
A: Yes it will!
Q: 6. Is there a way to mount the WR-R11b off camera with an extension cord?
A: The Nikon WR-R11b Remote Controller is meant to be plugged directly into the camera terminal. At this time Nikon is not making an extension cable or providing a solution to mount the Nikon WR-R11b Remote Controller off camera.
Q: 7. Is there a cheaper work around 3rd party wireless remote trigger that does NOT occupy the hot shoe? Going from a sub-$20 remote (ML-L3) to a sub-$300 set is a hard pill to swallow....for essentially the same functionality.
A: As an alternative to this product, see others such as the Vello Shutterboss III or the Vello Freewave Plus. They use a cable to relay communication, and the hot shoe is simply the most convenient place to place the receiver. They do not need the hot shoe to function. You could leave it hanging via the cable if you really needed to, but that would be a little risky. Shutterboss III (Nikon): https://bhpho.to/37WbxdA Freewave Plus (Nikon): https://bhpho.to/2NGxzdw
Q: 8. I own both the D850 and the Z7. Which remote set do I need to get?
A: Nikon Z7 you can use Nikon WR-R11b/WR-T10 Remote Controller Set B&H # NIWR11BWRT10 and D850 Nikon WR-R10/WR-T10/WR-A10 Wireless Remote Adapter Set BH #NIWR10 • MFR #27106
Q: 9. Will this remote work with d850?
A: No, the WR-R11b/WR-T10 combo will not work with the Nikon D850 camera. It uses the 10-pin Nikon connection. The WR remote set you need is this one, the WR-R11a/WR-T10 set: https://bhpho.to/3a4nmme
Q: 10. Will back button focus work with this?
A: Wherever you have your focus set doesn't matter because when you connect the remote you control everything through the remote.
