The formfitting Light Camera Cage from SmallRig protects and offers accessory mounting for your Sony a7 III, a7R III, or a9 camera. The durable aluminum cage maintains open access to the camera's controls and features a variety of mounting options. It features multiple 1/4"-20 threads and ARRI-style 3/8"-16 anti-twist mounts for attaching accessories.

There are multiple 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 tripod mounting threads on the bottom to add an optional quick release plate or mount onto a tripod. The camera mounts onto the cage using a 1/4"-20 screw, as well as an M2.5 screw on the side to prevent twisting, and rubber padding on the base also helps prevent twisting and scratching. An integrated strap slot allows you to add an optional wrist or shoulder strap. A screwdriver is included to secure the screws, and it stores in the base of the cage.

Q: 1. Would this fit the a7ii?

A: This cage is designed in mind to Sony bodies with a different form factor than the Sony a7ii and is not compatible.

Q: 2. Is this compatible with the SmallRig Tripod Mounting Kit with 2 x Plates and 2 x 15mm Rod Clamps (BH #SM1798), or does only the ARRI-style work with this?

A: This cage has threadings underneath it. You should be able to mount it on top of BH #SM1798.

Q: 3. Is this cage replacing the previous version in which many customers complained about the A7III shifting and moving around inside the cage? Thanks.

A: While we are not aware of issues with past cages, this is a new item number from SmallRig. With any company new items improve upon the old models.

Q: 4. WILL THIS L BRACKET ATTACH TO A MANFROTTO HEAD?

A: No it wont. I have used a Desmond DAC-60 QR clamp mounted on the Manfrotto plate. This allowed me to use my Manfrotto tripod with this L-bracket. You can find these clamps for about $30.

Q: 5. What is the difference between this model (2087B) and the 2087?

A: the primary difference is the mounting hole configurations and the ability to use nato rails

Q: 6. Is this compatible with the peak design capture plate?

A: There is a 1/4"-20 mounting point you can screw your PD capture plate to. Without the plate, this L-bracket will not go into your capture clip.

Q: 7. Will this fit the A7 III?

A: Sorry, haven't seen the A7III. I bought it for the A7RIII and it fits fine.

Q: 8. Will this l-bracket work with an RRS lever clamp?

A: I have a different view; you have to remove one of the safety screws and then slide the bracket into the RRS clamp. To me that is not working; I expect to be able to utilize both safety screws and to drop my Arca plate into the clamp. RRS plates allow you to drop the plate in which is faster and to me safer.
