Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. how long is it collapsed?

A: About 33 collapsed.

Q: 2. What is the total length at collapse position? I want a stand with arm that will fit inside my Pelican 1650 case for flights.

A: I contacted the manufacturer to confirm the collapsed length of the Auray MS-5220T Short Tripod Microphone Stand. The collapsed length of the stand without the boom arm attached is 17.7” and 24.5” with the boom arm attached.

Q: 3. Folded into its smallest configuration, is the overall length greater than 19"?

A: The Auray MS-5230T's minimum height is 36.2 inches.

Q: 4. -Is this tripod really stable to mount a Cascade Microphone New Fat Head II with its Shockmount (# CA119A MFR # 119-A)?

A: I have a iRig Studio Mic, A Metal Pop Filter, and a metal script holder mounted on this Stand. I think it should be able to handle it.

Q: 5. is 33.9" the max length the arm can extend from the center of the stand, or is that the max length from end to end of the boom arm?

A: The max length of boom end to end is 33.9"

Q: 6. how much weight can it hold?

A: It's a Mic stand, it has no problem with an added goose neck and a wireless microphone.

Q: 7. What kind of mic mount does this take?

A: The MS-5230T features a 5/8 threading compatible with most standard mic clips and mounts.

Q: 8. How tall is the mic stand itself, or how hight does it extend without the boom arm?

A: The base of the Auray MS-5230T Tripod Microphone Stand reaches a height of up to 63 inches. The telescoping boom arm can extend up to 33.9". Together these components allow the MS-5230T to reach a total height of almost 96 inches when the arm is oriented directly upwards.

Q: 9. Can you remove the boom arm? If so, what threading is used to attach it?

A: The Auray MS-5230T uses 5/8'' threading.

Q: 10. So with the main pole at max height of 31", and then the boom extended straight up at 33" max extension, you could get a mic 64" off the ground?

A: No. While the boom length is listed as 33 inches, when the boom is vertical (easily done), there is considerable overlap of the stand and the boom. Also, the top of the stand itself is more like 29 inches. With everything extended as high as possible, the top of the boom is just over 56 inches from the floor.

Great value for a simple, stable, straight microphone stand! Will definitely buy more in the future.

I'm a wedding officiant and needed a microphone stand that is stable, easy to transport, and isn't shiny so it doesn't stand out in photos. The Auray MS-5230 is definitely the right stand for me. It arrived quickly and in excellend condition.

Bought this as a Christmas present for my college aged son. He is a vocal music major and needed a stand that was light enough to move easily around stage, but sturdy enough to hold up. The MS-5230 seems to really fit the bill. It's stable, sturdy but light enough to move around between songs (or with one hand as part of the choreography!). All in all it does everything he wanted.

These are great for setting up small home Karaoke or quick setup gigs where abuse is minimal. The legs probably won't stand up to guest speaker/singer intoxication or heavy/hard use but that is not what these are intended to do.

Got a speaker who needs to say a few words and you are on the go? This is a minimal expense way to make your audio presentation look very professional. Doing a one night gig with a small presentation? this is it. Just getting started on a small budget. Hurry up! Need a spare stand or two? Grab these before they are gone... Church Singer Solos??? Yep, these are the ones.

Setup is quick and easy. Nice Finish. Feels like pro-built with smooth action in the joints, clamps, etc. Folds small and is so light weight you can carry a bunch of these at a time! I put several in one mic stand bag. LOL

For the money, you can't beat these.

My first Auray purchase! When these arrived, I was impressed at how well-made they were. Much sturdier than other stands I've purchased over the years that were a lot more money. Very stable and our B&H rep recommended these for use with our Behringer PPA200 portable PA system. Plus, these were half the price of stands other vendors wanted to sell me. Another great value from B&H.

Look, we bought these because we're on a tight budget - or we're tight-wads. Either way, these are perfect for what we need and they're lightweight enough to move around. Unless you need a solid base, then these stands are a great solution for your problem.
