The lens hood is a Canon branded product and as such is high quality and fits perfectly. Canon, however failed to be able to supply the same part when I ordered it directly from Canon. For months it was in a back order status and each time I inquired, the only response was, we don't know when it will be in stock again. 6 months go by, I check status only to find back order has changed to cancelled. I find the same item at B&H, order it and 3 days later I have it. 5

I always use a lens hood. So every lens I buy gets a lens hood if not included. And, of course, this one has Canon's usual great quality which makes the decision even easier. Buy one if you have a nifty fifty. 5

Well-made and does the job. My only complaint is that I would prefer Cannon includes the lens hood with the lens itself and adjusts the price accordingly. 5

Works well on the RF 50mm 1.8 lens. Easy to put on and take off. Also fits in reverse when not in use. Expensive for what it is but the only one available right now. 5

It's a Canon lens hood. It attaches like other Canon lens hoods. I can't verify any usefulness in terms of image quality, but it reassures me I have an extra layer of protection for my lens. 5
