Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. does this fit any 75mm tripod?

A: This does not fit a regular 75mm bowl. It fits tripods that uses the Gitzo Systematic Series 2, 3 and 4, This includes Gitzo Systematic Induro Grand, LeoFoto Mountain Series, and Robus.

Q: 2. Is it simple to add a Arca quick release plate to this?

A: The FLM CB-24E Ball Head with Mounting Platform has a 3/8 connection at the base and 1/4-20 connection at the head, so you can attach an Arca plate with a 3/8 thread or 3/8 adapter bushing. An Arca plate/mount can be mounted on the head as well with a 1/4-20 connection.

Q: 3. Will these work with a LM-324CL?

A: Yes, the Leofoto LSHIM-32 Shim Set for LS-324C and LM-324C Tripods will be compatible with the Leofoto LM-324CL(Long) Tripod.

Q: 4. Are these compatible with the Benro TMA37AL? Sincere thanks in advance. Respectfully, Joseph Sambataro

A: it will fit

Q: 5. Best ball head to use with this? We have a Canon C100 Mark II to mount to a hood of a vehicle.

A: Hi Rory, from my experience with using ballheads for this is that unless it is a very beefy one I would not recommend it. We have used it for our A7s with a 24-70mm sigma zoom though it is not as balanced as your C100 it is also much smaller and lighter weight. What we have found out is that every pot hole every bump will cause the camera to shake and bobble with the ball head. This is because of the way every ball head was designed. A larger mass up top with the camera a thinner connecting rod to the ball base and one knob to tighten the ball unit to where you want it.After a few test runs we ended up using a standard x/y style mount, it took longer to set up and we had to move it a little further back but it was more stable. With the ball mount it was shorter and we really wanted to use it however even adding a three point tension with some straps did not prevent it from wobbling and eventually loosening up the ball and our camera dropped from the framing making the footage unusable. We absolutely love the fast setup with the magnets there is some issues with some legs not being able to touch the car body perfectly but we tied the whole thing back and it survived 50 mph for over 6 minutes.

Q: 6. How hard to detach is this? Could it damage the car?

A: not difficult to remove. You have to use a little muscle, but it's very secure. Be sure the vehicle you're using is steel. Honda Pilot has an aluminum hood so we switched vehicles. Different hoods vary in vibration. Worked great on a Versa without additional rigging. Suction cups are a nice option if you're not using a magnetic surface.

Q: 7. Hi there, Will the 100mm Bowl Adaptor fit any standard 100mm Video Camera Fluid head? (i.e. the satchler 515)

A: It should but it cannot be stated unequivocally that all adapters fit all heads. Issues that could arise are not about the ball and bowl so much as there are with the tie-down type, size and fit.

Q: 8. Is it a 9 Piece set for all the 3 legs?

A: Correct Leofoto LSHIM-32 Shim Set for LS-324C and LM-324C Tripods is a full set for all three legs.

Q: 9. Can I use this to mount a 100mm Tripod head to a 75mm Tripod bowl?

A: This is exactly what it's designed for.

Q: 10. How is the mount removed after the shot?

A: I am not a movie grip so I am just guessing here. I would think a 2 in. plastic joint knife would do the trick, one foot at a time.

I needed a minimalist ballhead with a footprint of 35mm (or less) for use on a TrailPix minimalist tripod for backpacking use. I had used an existing Giottos MH-1304 and tried to crank it down to secure between an APS-C mirrorless to a FF dSLR with f/4 and f/2.8 short pro zooms in angled-down positions. What ended-up happening is that the weight overwhelmed that ballhead and shifted under lock to produce a terrible, to-the-aluminum gouge in the ball. Hence my opting for a FLM CB-24E. Long story short, the FLM-CB-24E is not a particularly smooth nor ergonomic ballhead, but it is one that is solid and will handle a high load with ease when locked down. Its action is fairly binary, or at least you will want to use it that way. If you leave it in the partially-engaged state, it will feel like sandpaper, and I didn't feel like I could depend on constant friction so that the camera didn't flop as you can on a high-quality full-featured head (eg. RRS BH-40). But that's not really the point of a 140g ballhead with neither a pan lock, not to mention a tension adjustment, is it? It is a minimalist ballhead the point of which was that 1) it holds its rated weight with aplomb in any orientation, and 2) it locks/unlocks with ease. It does both well. Sure, the main knob could be more aggressive in its shaping/knurling, but it is sufficient and probably conceived so that it would be difficult to crank it down so tight that locking failure would damage the ball (as it did with my Giottos). I had originally intended to mount a nodal slide or rig up some sort of offset clamp to help balance the fore-aft load on the ballhead, but now I see the CB-24E has made it unnecessary. It can handle the load of normal (24-70mm and 16-35mm) pro zooms on a FF body with ease. Kudos, FLM.
