Polsen Pma-2b Stereo Personal In-ear Monitor Amplifier Kit With Power Supply

Monitor your audio on stage or in the studio with the Polsen PMA-2B, a stereo in-ear monitor amplifier that can clip onto a belt or a guitar strap. You can also mount it to a mic stand. Wherever you decide to place the unit, you'll enjoy a noiseless, interference-free sound at whatever level you need.
The PMA-2B has two balanced XLR inputs for accepting stereo signal from a mixing board or a field mixer and offers two prominent controls for easy operation. Set the level and balance between the two input signals, exactly to your liking. A dedicated selector lets you choose how you want to hear the mix. Select stereo to hear the full stereo mix, or select mono to sum the stereo signal and send it to each side of your headphones. Since the amp sports a high-power headphone output, it delivers plenty of volume, so even drummers can hear the cue mix over their drum kit.
This sturdy, pocket-sized monitor amplifier is made with a durable all-metal chassis that can withstand demanding stage, location, and studio use. To monitor, simply connect your earphones, IEMs, or headphones to the amp's 3.5mm headphone output. The unit runs for up to 12 hours off a single 9V battery. Conversely, you can purchase a separately available adapter.

Dual, balanced XLR connectors ensure sound free from interference and noise, even with a long cable run. Input the aux mix from a mixing board, so you can hear your performance the way your audience hears it. Directors shooting dialog can feed the signal from a field mixer to the PMA-2B to monitor the recording in full detail. It also works for conferencing and meetings.
The PMA-2B is an active monitor amplifier, which means it can amplify the signal it sends to your headphones. This is useful for drummers who often can't hear the mix over their own kit, or players who need to hear themselves over the speakers and crowd noise.
The PMA-2B runs on one 9V battery for about 12 hours and that's enough power to last through several sets, gigs, or extended shoots. It can also be powered by the PS-9V power supply (available separately).
The stage is no place for a breakable monitor amp, and neither is the studio. The PMA-2B's metal chassis can stand up to the rigors of the road or the studio. The compact size and relatively light weight let you clip the monitor to your belt or guitar strap and forget about it. You won't even notice it's there. It's small enough to fit into your guitar case, or if you're running out the door to get to a gig, you can even slip it into your coat pocket.
An integrated belt clip keeps the PMA-2B exactly where you need it: out of the way. The PMA-2B also has a shoe mount for adding it to a camera rig, and a 1/4"-20 socket so you can mount it onto a tripod, lightstand, or accessory arm.
Related Questions and Answers
Q: 1. Will this item add a stronger bass and more lows to the sound of my headphones or it just raises the volume?
A: This only controls volume, not tone.
Q: 2. Do you need to use a headphone amp w/ this? Or does it require phantom power?
A: This is a passive headphone amplifer, meaning it does not require power. Connect a cable from a monitor output of a mixing board to this device, and you can attach headphones or in-ear monitors to recieve a personal mix. The unit also has headphone volume control.
Q: 3. Is the headphone amplifier RF protected? Time ago I bought a ROLLS PM-55 and I had problems with cellular phones interferences
A: No RF issues, but I did have grounding issues with one I bought recently.
Q: 4. phantom power?
A: No, this is a headphone amplifier. You would not connect a microphone directly to it.
Q: 5. can this be used with earbuds ?and what microfone would bee best ?
A: This can be used with earbuds. The type of mic would depend on what you are doing with it. For a live vocal performance situation, here's a general mic recommendation: B&H # SEE945.
Q: 6. Can an equalizer be used at the recorder input/output connections?
A: To be able to connect an equalizer into the Denon PMA-600NE, it would need to start with your source device, going into the EQ and then outputting to one of the inputs on the Denon PMA-600NE.
Q: 7. I bought this a year or so ago and have been using it to use to boost the monitor level for my somewhat high-impedence headphones. I just tried the mic port for the first time. I am finding that the mic input leaks into the monitor channel even with the mic volume at zero. Raising the mic volume does raise the mic input, but also adds quite a bit of noise. And when the monitor volume is at zero, the mic channel does not sound even with the level set up high. I expected the two inputs to be independently controllable. Is there a way to accomplish this?
A: Hello. Thank you for your description of usage. This device is designed to where the Monitor level control is a master control over the overall mix output of the mic input and monitor input. The two input channels can not be separated. If needed to balance the levels of the mic and playback in your headphones, you'd have to balance the mic gain on the Polsen, and the headphone out of the Steinberg individually. As for the metronome bleed through the mix when the gain is down, the headphone out level of the metronome is a much hotter signal than the expected mic level intended for the mic input. Due to this, it is possible that the level would pass through while the gain is turned down. I would recommend revisiting the metronome built into your recording software. This can be used while recording and not actually be on your recorded tracks. By going this route, all you would need the Polsen for is to boost the level of the headphones.
Q: 8. Will this item work with a condenser boom mic (provide phantom power)?
A: I don't think it provides phantom power but it does allow it to pass through? So send phantom power from the recorder (or TX if going wireless) and you should be good.
Q: 9. Documentation says supports playing from sources with a MM cartridge... I assume it works fine with Moving Coil?
A: While it may be possible to use Moving Coil with the Denon PMA-600NE 90W Stereo Integrated Amplifier, it is not recommended. A better option would be the Denon PMA-900HNE 100W Integrated Network Amplifier which is specifically designed for this, BH #DEMA900HNE (https://bhpho.to/3PNxkrz).
Q: 10. Where is the switch that flips it from 'Mono' to 'Stereo?' The manual shows it near the volume knob, but there's nothing there.
A: According to page 03 in the manual, the mono/stereo switch is inside of the battery compartment. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/lit_files/836189.pdf
