Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I am mainly a flowers, landscape, sunset kind of guy. I will jump into the Fuji medium format very soon. What 2 or 3 lenses would be best for my prefered subjects?

A: The FUJIFILM GF 23mm f/4 R LM WR Lens, B&H # FU234RWR, would be a good lens option for landscape images and sunset images of landscapes. To photograph close-up images of flowers, a macro lens such as the FUJIFILM GF 120mm f/4 Macro R LM OIS WR Lens, B&H # FU1204LMWR, would be a good option. For regular images of flowers (not necessarily close-up images), the FUJIFILM GF 63mm f/2.8 R WR Lens, B&H # FU6328RWR, would be a good option for your usage needs.

Q: 2. Apparently, it is normal for the focus ring on this lens to travel forever in either direction without stops. Got this from Fujifilm directly, so sorry for the ignorance on my part. I've been a film shooter forever and this is the first digital camera I've ever bought. ?

A: This is typical of newer lenses, as a lot of lenses in the digital era operate electronically (typically referred to now as focus-by-wire), where the focus ring moves the elements via a motor and only when the lens is powered. This is opposed to the more mechanical/traditional SLR lens, where turning the focus ring physically shifts elements in the lens to focus.

Q: 3. The GF 23mm and 45-100mm share the same front element diameter(82mm). Would this Lens Hood fit on the 45-100mm?

A: No. The following lens hood is designed and made for the GF 23mm f/4 R LM WR Lens only.

Q: 4. How to calculate MF DOF for crop and FF MF?

A: I suggest forgetting the word crop and crop factor. Please just go by what size your imager is, film or digital. On line you can find DOF calculators. Here is a good one. https://bit.ly/2AhsdN9Enter the sensor size, the lens mm, the aperture and the focus distance and you will have your Depth of Field. As a motion picture camera assistant, I calculated DOF dozens of times a production day. If I can do it, so can you.

Q: 5. Is it normal for there to be a clunking sound inside the barrel when lens is inverted and then returned? Thx

A: Yes it is normal.

Q: 6. Do you know what the diameter of the lens hood is?

A: The FUJIFILM Lens Hood for GF 110mm f/2 R LM WR Lens has a front diameter of 4 and 1/8" (107.4 mm).

Q: 7. I am considering a 120 macro for floral and close-up photography. I'm wondering if the 110 plus the 45 G WR extension tube would give me good floral/macro PLUS portraiture. I admittedly don't do many portraits, but would this idea give me a good two-for-one over just the 120 macro? I don't recall seeing photos of the 110 with macro-tube extension.

A: While you would not need an extension tube for portraiture photography, you may use the Fujifilm GF 110mm f/2 R LM WR Lens for portraiture, and you may add the use of the FUJIFILM MCEX-45G WR Macro Extension Tube so you may use the Fujifilm GF 110mm f/2 R LM WR Lens for close-up macro photography usage needs. The focal length would be slightly shorter than using the 120mm lens, but it would still be a good combination if you prefer the wider 110mm focal length for your portraiture usage needs. I think you'll be happy with the combination.

Q: 8. Can you confirm that this is for the 250mm f4 lens for GFX, not the xf as mentioned under key features? Thanks.

A: The FUJIFILM Hood for GF 250mm f/4 R LM OIS WR Lens is the correct lens hood for the FUJIFILM GF 250mm f/4 R LM OIS WR Lens; it is not the correct lens hood for the XF 50-140mm f/2.8 R LM OIS WR Lens.

Q: 9. How large are the pixels in the Fuji GFX-50?

A: 5.2 micrometers (microns)

Q: 10. Why does the listing specify this as 87mm (35mm Equivalent) when it's a 110mm lens? Typo?

A: All lenses are rate in terms of a full frame lens. So the FUJIFILM GF 110mm f/2 R LM WR Lens with UV Filter Kit is made for a medium format camera. So that lens on that camera is more like a 87mm lens. If you could put that on a full frame lens it would be 110mm.

This is my first zoom for GFX. It is a short zoom and I've heard it was not so great. With $500 rebate promotion so I got it for the studio.
It is actually sharp and great control with flare and ghost. Very good lens indeed.

I have been using this lens for 5 months now and feel very confident in its build quality, sharpness and usability. I have shot with medium format digital since 2005 with the Hasselblad H series and also the X series, and I was a little concerned about a zoom lens. But I also like how versatile my Canon 24-70mm is, so with some recommendations from sales people and reviews, I thought I would buy this and the 110mm. I shoot fashion, celebrity and portraits. No regrets. I haven't really checked its sharpness as different settings or compared it directly in any meaningful way with my other cameras. but I also don't feel the need to. After 5 months, the lens is great. I don't worry about any subjects or settings, and think the sharpness on my photos is excellent. I pair the lens with the GFX 100 camera and just worry about being creative.

This lens is sharp, edge to edge, relatively compact, and performs very well under varied lighting conditions, for both landscape and group people photographic conditions. I have only had it for a couple of weeks, but used it extensively in Monza Italy the last few days.

Having had previous experience with both the Pentax 645D, 645Z systems, I knew when I changed over to the GFX exactly what I was looking for in a first lens. A really good zoom. A lens like this makes it so easy for people combining, or crossing over from DSLR use. Easy to use, and not all that large in size considering what you are getting in focal length. Great build quality, sharp as could be. So while I either own, or have rented all of the lenses currently make for this system, I would say this without a doubt. Get this one as a first lens, then add some of the others as needed. It is very nice. As far as B&H is concerned, I believe I have been a customer since late 2007,early 2008. Prices are great, customer service is top notch for sure. I have bought new, used, and traded in gear with them, never any issues at all. Not one! I usually check their site first before I shop anywhere else.

This is the lens that lives on my GFX 50S. Super sharp, wonderful build quality, and excellent bokeh. Add the macro extension tube for even more versatility. It’s big, but it’s deceivingly light. It’s size makes it seem it should be way heavier than it is. Fuji makes amazing glass!

I am a prime kind of guy and loved the spectacularly sharp Fujifilm GF 63mm f2.8. In fact, I wrote the review currently showing on this site about that lens. But when traveling I wanted something wider that would allow me to capture more external architecture and interior layout. What I didn't was overlapping focale lenghts. Remdy, I sold my 63 2.8 and purchased this 32-64mm f4. With 9 aperture blades the IQ is very similar to the 63 2.8 but the zoom capability affords me many more options. Especially when on travel. And somewhere this lens hasn't heard, doesn't know that it's a 'zoom' lens. The IQ is very sharp. Color redition superb. Focus speed and focus. Fast and spot on. I will miss my beloved 63, but not for long I think. Yea Fuji!

I have been taking pictures since I was a young child, and I have owned many cameras during my life, from my first Kodak box camera to my current Nikon D850, and many others. Fujifilm's announcement of the release of the GFX100s coincided roughly with my 65th birthday and my retirement from the full time practice of law, so I decided to get myself a present and try and expand to medium format.

I received my GFX100s and the GF32-64 just three days ago. Simply stated, this camera and lens combination is spectacular! I have been utterly blown away by everything from the build quality, to how easy it is to use, to the simply stunning quality of the images right out of the camera. The image quality out of this zoom lens is better than many premium, prime lenses I have used. The images are razor sharp from corner to corner, the contrast is stunning, the color amazing and the distortion is minimal.

The images that the GFX 100s and this lens produce are beautiful, stunning, spectacular and mind blowing. This camera/lens combination is capable of producing images and prints that are as, if not more, spectacular than large frame film cameras. I have seen many original Ansel Adams prints in museums. The Center for Creative Photography in Tucson was just a few blocks down the street from my apartment when I was in law school. The images that this camera and lens can produce are that good. The images just POP. Period.

Beautiful. Sharp. Amazing color. Super versatile. Goes very wide and can then get close enough to shoot detailed still life. I have this and the 120 macro for my GFX 50r. They compliment each other perfectly. Could not be happier with the images.
