Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does the grain run long or short?

A: I highly doubt it would make any difference. This is an extremely high resolution fine grain semi gloss paper and is about the best there is.Canson don't state any specification on their website but do include images of all their surface finishes and they all look pretty random to me.Sheet media is always loaded in portrait with the long side facing adjacent to the motion of the print head.

Q: 2. I have a Epson Stylus Pro 4880, I need to know if my printer will handle the 310 gsm paper?

A: After reviewing the question yes it can take 310 gsm paper

Q: 3. Is the paper grain parallel to the short side or the long side? Apparently the label is marked GS if it is short grain.

A: There is no way we can know in advance what batch we'll get from Moab, but yes if it has a GS it will mean 'short grain'. Moab cuts the paper from a roll & it depends how they slice it up. Although the paper is smooth people that want to fold the paper (i.e. for cards) would be very specific in the grain direction so the paper folds smoothly.

Q: 4. How do I eliminate bronzing on Canon pro-100?

A: Best is to use the printer specific ICC profiles for the Canson Infinity Platine Fibre Rag Paper and the Canon PIXMA PRO-100 Wireless Professional Inkjet Photo Printer when printing. This can be found with the drop down filters at the link here: https://www.canson-infinity.com/en/icc-profiles?fp=485

Q: 5. Does this paper need a UV Spray Protector after printing to set the dye ink (not pigment) and keep it from smudging?

A: Moab Entrada Rag Bright 190 Paper (4 x 6", 50 Sheets) (B&H# MOEB1904650) doe not require the addition of a UV spray protectant in order to set normal inkjet dye ink. Just be sure to let the ink dry before handling.

Q: 6. How do this compare with the Epson Platine?

A: The Canson Infinity Platine Fibre Rag Paper (8.5 x 11", 25 Sheets) has 89.12% whiteness and high water resistance. The Epson Legacy Platine Paper has 82% whiteness.

Q: 7. can I use this in my laser printer?

A: It is not recommended for laser printers, nor made for them. It will work with both dye and pigment inks on an inkjet printer

Q: 8. Can you buy envelopes separately?

A: Please email AskBH@a href= http://BHPhoto.com target= _blank BHPhoto.com/a for what type of envelopes you are looking for for recommendations.

Q: 9. Back before Christmas I purchased two boxes of Canson Infinity Platine Fibre Rag paper (8.5x11 and 13x19) from B&H. I now have a new Canon imageProGraf 300 printer. I've downloaded the ICC profile for this paper, but Canson does not indicate the "Media Type" setting that I should use in PS or LR. Could anyone advise me what media setting I should use?

A: You can probably use Luster or Exhibition Fiber which is also in the semi gloss family. Please note: being that the TM300 is only a 4 color printer not really for photos or fine art, you can't expect to get the exact color on prints anyway. You'll need a printer like the Pro 4100.

Q: 10. Dual-sized for printing?

A: Yes the Moab Entrada Rag Bright 190 Paper is double sided so it can be printed on both sides.

I create collages from my photographs, objects around the house, assemblages and sculptures I make, and found images.
I print on the finest digital archival photo papers, Canson Infinity Platine Fibre Rag being one of my favorites.

I have been using Epson Legacy paper for a while but was having a hard time finding the Legacy Platine in the size I wanted. Switched to Canson and am happy with both quality and lower price.

I've been using Canson papers for a long time. My previous favorite and still a good choice is Canson Baryta Prestige II 340. The new Platine Fibre Rag has proven to be a better choice with a very smooth surface, a rag backing and of course superb results. It has a wonderful feel and hangs well in a frame. I can also drymount all Canson products so far with no problems. Not to mention that there apparently is no optical brightener. I use both papers now for my customer work, and my own. B&W is superb on both. It's nearly impossible to determine if a print was inkjet or silver gelatin made in a B&W darkroom.

First of all, B&H does a really nice job of packing for shipping. No sign of any dents in the box which has been a problem with other vendors in the past. The paper is sublime. I'm using this now for B&W printing on my Canon Pro1000 and it Renders wonderfully. The blacks are deep the whites sparkle, and the thickness is perfect. I am very happy with this paper so far, and looking forward to how it prints in color.

While it's extremely expensive almost $7 a sheet), the results are worth it. One complaint-paper dust from trimming into sheets or fibers that weren't properly sealed when the paper was coated-crop up and ruin a print with large areas of a single color.
