The aktiv6 Sideload Fluid Head uses Sachtler's truly innovative SpeedLevel technology to provide almost instant mounting and leveling of your camera rig on Sachtler 75mm tripod legs. The clamp and stud SpeedLevel system saves precious time leveling your camera rig by eliminating the need to screw on a tie-down knob. Designed for DSLRs, mirrorless, and digital cine-style cameras, the aktiv6 supports rigs weighing up to 17.6 pounds. This fluid head features 15 steps of counterbalance and three steps of pan and tilt drag adjustment, plus zero settings for both balance and drag.

The SpeedLevel technology replaces the traditional head screw and tie-down design with a strong clamp built into the head bowl and a stud component that clamps onto your tripod bowl or other mounting platform, such as a slider. Simply grasp the large lever on the head and pull it up to release the clamp, then press it down to lock your head in place. Partially lifting the lever allows you to quickly and easily level the head.

When used with a separately available flowtech tripod, the activ6 enables you to spread the legs flat, getting as low to the ground as your head can without a tie-down knob getting in the way. You can also mount your head directly onto a slider using a separately available aktiv system stud that screws onto support systems with a 3/8"-16 threaded stud.

The PrismBubble level system is pressed once to illuminate the bubble level to be illuminated or pressed twice to light up both the bubble level and the drag settings, a boon when working in darker environments. The bubble level also has a built-in prism, enabling you to more easily level the head when the legs are at set at maximum height or an awkward angle.

Mount your camera using the aktiv6 sliding balance plate with 1/4-20" screw and locating pin. With a sliding range of 4.7", this head adapts quickly to balance variously configured rigs. The Sachtler aktiv6 head also features a detachable pan bar that can be mounted onto the rosettes on either the right or left side of the head.

A: The "T" stands for their Touch and Go system.

Q: 3. Would Aktiv 6 be appropriate for Sony A7s3 and Sony 100-400 lens and maybe a small monitor on top? I'm debating between Aktiv 6 and Aktiv 8, but would hope to spend less on Aktiv 6.

Q: 4. How low can the Aktiv 6 go? Could it go down to the ground like the Aktiv 8?

Q: 8. What are the pros and cons when comparing middle and ground spreaders? Thanks.

A: Mid level spreaders are fast, always clean and can be use on uneven terrain.. However, you cannot get as low as with a ground spreader. You might consider it a tad less stable. Ground spreaders get dirty and are not good on uneven terrain. They must be removed at that time. (No big deal) They are good on flat surfaces particularly floors with delicate finishes. They are a tad more stable. Conclusion: if you need speed and clean, use mid level. If you need maximum stability, and are on smooth floors. go ground.

Q: 9. Is this Sachtler combo more compact than Manfrotto's 645 Fast with the 608 head? Thanks.

Q: 10. The Aktiv6 has 3+0 steps of drag and the Aktiv8 has 7+0. Is the total amount of drag the same on both with the Aktiv8 having finer control or does the Aktiv8 have more overall drag?

A: The total amount of drag is not the same on the Aktiv6 and Aktiv8. There are 4 more units of drag on the Aktiv8 than the Aktiv6.

Like anyone else looking to move up, I was skeptical of paying so much money. However, I'm at the point where I don't want to keep buying a new tripod every 2-3 years so I figured I'd go for it. It is super simple to use and it makes my setup time so much faster. It is extremely versatile and very strong and sturdy. I like how quickly it can be balanced and I know I can trust the head to hold the weight with no problem. I almost purchased the carry handle because I didn't know it was in the bag.

A big investment, but seems completely worth it. Intuitive, easy to balance, and so fast to set during fast-moving documentary work. It's heavy, but the quality, ease-of-use, and features make it completely worth it. The bag that comes with the tripod also seems quality.

As a product designer myself, I appreciate really well thought-out designs, especially when the actual construction rises to the level of the design concepts. This is clearly one of those products that meets muster. As a filmmaker, producer, 1st AD, and photographer, I really like this product, even down to the included, detachable handle. This tripod and head just works. I do wish the head had just a touch more fine-tuning to the drag settings, but what's there isn't really a problem. This is a purchase I hesitated on for a while because of cost, but I'm glad I went ahead with it. So far, well worth it.

I have the FSB-8 paired with Gitzo legs. It’s so frustrating that the FSB-8 head’s counterbalance does not go to zero and the legs are twist lock.

With the Flowtech legs, the setup and breakdown time alone is worth the cost. The Activ head is matches well with light cameras like the Sony PXW-Z90 and A7siii.

I highly recommend this so much that I will buy a 3rd set so all my sticks and heads match.

For a really long time, I wanted to have a reliable tripod that I can use on every set. This is the answer. I also like the possibility of charging the tripod head in the future.

If you value your time and want to reduce stress in your life, get this tripod. I've gone through the tripod shuffle. Buy the BEST tripod you can afford because in the end, you will want one like this.

I now have two and want to replace my 3rd Gitzo / FSB8 combo with another of these.

The fact that this goes to 0 for tilt is great for smaller cameras like the Sony PXW-z90 or an a6400 mirrorless. But can handle a fully rigged Fs6.

The flow tech legs are a game changer. It is SUPER easy to set two tripods at the SAME height. This would be very time consuming with traditional legs. With a flick of a lever, you can adjust the bowl.

All this time adds up and when it's a joy to use, you no longer think about how much it cost.

TLDR: buy this tripod and you'll be happy you did

Previously I had the aktiv8 for use with the Sony Fx6, monitors and follow focus, and long lens such as the 70-200mm, however the aktiv6 does just as good a job with this setup and you can save some dollars.

It took a while to actually get the tripod but it was worth the wait! Upgrading to a tripod that works so well and is designed to work perfectly is such a blessing. Everything from the ease of use when you're adjusting the height, or leveling the head of the tripod to small things like the magnets that hold the legs together and the balancing bubble that lights up; everything was thought out when making this tripod and I'm absolutely in love with it!

While tripods are not commonly referred to as the *most* exciting piece of gear, I'd actually say, with much confidence, that this Sachtler aktiv6 flowtech75 system is actually my favorite piece of gear I own. It's reliable. It's light weight. It's durable. It just works every single time. And, best of all, t's as smooth as can be. The combination of the aktiv6 head and the flowtech75 legs are just magnificent. To be able to shoot extreme high angles to extreme low, floor-level shots, this tripod system suits every need, every operator, every camera and every single situation. I have experience using other brands and models from Manfrotto, Sachtler, Benro, etc., and I can confidently say that there is no other model or make on the market than can remotely compete with this one. Do yourself a favor and add this to your arsenal of equipment. Way to go Sachtler on this incredible achievement. Highly recommended! 10/10.
