The silver Shure MOTIV MVI is a compact and portable single-channel USB audio interface that lets you stream and record a microphone or instrument to your Mac/Windows computer. It is well suited for podcasters, vloggers, singer-songwriters, and guitarists, or for people using a microphone when video-conferencing at home or on the go. The interface is also MFi-certified and can be used to capture sound to an iPhone or iPad (requires a Lightning cable available separately).

The MOTIV MVI features a discrete JFET Class-A buffered preamplifier input for high-quality tone and clarity. The combo XLR/1/4" jack allows you to plug either an XLR microphone or a guitar/bass/keyboard. When connected to a computer the interface also provides the phantom power required to operate condenser microphones.

Five DSP modes (Speech, Singing, Flat, Acoustic Instrument, Loud) automatically handle gain, EQ, compression, and limiting to ensure optimal sound quality without manual tweaking on your part. If you prefer to fine-tune your recording for a specific purpose, you can manually adjust the limiter, compressor, and five-band EQ to find your unique sound.

The touch panel on the front allows for fast and easy access to mic gain, headphone volume, DSP mode selection, and mute. There is also a built-in 3.5mm headphone jack to monitor your audio in real time.

The MOTIV MVI comes with cables for USB Type-A and USB Type-C connectivity.

Q: 2. Works good if I connect the interface to a mixer and record video with an iPad?

A: It is designed to connect to Mac and Windows computers, as well as the range of iOS and Android devices. But I suppose you could use the headphone output to route audio to your mixer.

Q: 3. Hi, works with M1 iPad pro?

A: Right now there is now confrmation this will work wth the M1 or OS11 (Big Sur)

Q: 4. How is this model different than the other seemingly identical B&H item here? a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1115605-REG/shure_mv51_digital_large_diaphragm_condenser_mic.html target= _blank http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1115605-REG/shure_mv51_digital_large_diaphragm_condenser_mic.html/a

A: There's just a slight difference in the packaging. hardware, accessories, operation and specs are identical.

Q: 5. Does the MV51 have any kind of noise cancelling features? How does it compare to other mics, in this regard...such as the iRIG MIC Studio, or the Blue Spark Digital?

A: The Shure Motiv MV51 does not have noise canceling but it does have 5 DSP presets. It is cross platform with USB and lightning connectors. The build quality is very good. As far as comparing it to the iRig and the Blue Spark is not something that I would do. They all have their pros and cons. The only thing that matters is do you like the sound of the mic. Which as with all mics is a matter of personal preference.

Q: 6. How can I connect this to a 3.5 mm mic input on a camera?

A: Unfortunately not, this microphone only works with computers, tablets or some smartphones.

Q: 7. Can this interface handle line level input? Like to send a mix from an analog mixer to a computer?

A: There is no line level input. Connect any standard XLR microphone or 1/4" plug for guitar, bass or keyboard to any iOS device, Mac or Windows computer for seamless audio capture

Q: 8. Does the Shure MOTIV MV51 work with the iPhone 4?

A: It is designed for iOS products with a lightning connector only. An adapter has not been tested nor is using one recommended.

Q: 9. Will the Shure MOTIV MVi interface retain the last panel settings (volume / mode / mute) when it is disconnect & reconnected? What happens when you unplug it from one computer & plug the USB into another?

A: There is no internal battery, therefore settings would not be saved once power is disconnected.

Q: 10. Can this mic be used with a dslr camera?

A: No its only design for pc/mac ios
