This Circular Polarizer II Filter from Nikon is a 112mm multicoated filter that minimizes flare and glare, providing increased saturation and clearer images that are crisp and have more contrast.

The polarization effect is visible in the viewfinder or on the LCD screen as the front ring is rotated. When shooting on a bright day, the saturation of a blue sky may be controlled, which enhances the definition of cloud formations. In addition, when shooting into water, the reflections often associated with landscape or scenic photography may be minimized or eliminated. A circular polarizer is an essential tool for landscape photography. When shooting through a glass window, museum showcase, or car window, reflections and glare will be reduced allowing the subject behind the glass to be captured. This slim filter ring design allows this filter to be used on wide-angle lenses with a reduced potential for vignetting the image corners.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is the metal brass or aluminum?

A: I'ts black, so I cannot tell. It weighs less than the B+W, so it might be aluminum. It threads on nicely and is well made. It is also relatively thin, but still has enough thread for a lens cap.

Q: 2. Will this fit on a Tokina 11-16 mm?

A: The Nikon Circular Polarizer II Filter (77mm) will fit the Tokina atx-i 11-16mm f/2.8 CF Lens for Canon EF.

Q: 3. When using this polarizing filter on my D7100 with 18-105 or my 70-200 lenses and with a UV filter you rotate it and then can see the affect in the viewfinder from light to near dark. What should it be rotated to ? ie what result is achieved? Also, with the lens hood on it is difficult to rotate the filter but I assume I am to rotate it for the desired affect to be achieved? Or does this camera automatically adjust for the filter?

A: You rotate a circular polarizer to achieve a bluer sky or to cut glare from reflective surfaces. The camera will not automatically adjust for the filter, since this is a totally mechanical action. You should rotate the filter until the effect you are looking for has been achieved.

Q: 4. What type of material is the Nikon 67mm circular filter made of? Brass or aluminum?

A: Nikon does not list the material but we are of the opinion the ring is aluminium.

Q: 5. will this fit on my Nikkor 17-55mm 1:2.8 G ED Lens?

A: No, you will need the 77mm filter for this lens: https://bhpho.to/2GxPTyj

Q: 6. Is this filter (Nikon 95mm Circular Polarizer Filter II) multicoated?

A: I checked the Nikon manual for the filter and it is silent on multi-coating (generic filter foldout is provided). A competing website for B&H says that it is. Nikon's website is also silent. So I cannot say for sure. I am happy with the filter, the glass is exceptional using it on a new Nikon 200-500. Please note that it is exceptionally thin, spinning the CPL piece is easy while get it on and off the lens takes some care as I have big hands.

Q: 7. Can I put my HN3 Cap on the out side of the filter when the filter is mounted on the Nikon 35 mm f 2D lens mounted on my Nikon D3 camera? Or in other words can I use this filter between my lens and the capHN3?

A: Yes you can. The front of this filter is threaded in the same manner as your lens is, and can accept any other 52mm sized lens cap or other filter stacked upon it.

Q: 8. Will automatic lenses and the polarizing filter make the necessary camera f stop adjustment or should it be used inmanual for eyeballing best fstop?

A: You can use this filter with autofocus lenses, the amount of polarization depends on rotating the actual filter.

Q: 9. Is this the correct polarizer to use with the Nikon F6 film camera?

A: Nikon Circular Polarizer II Filter (77mm) is compatible with the Nikon F6 camera if you have a lens on it that accepts 77mm filters.

Q: 10. Where is this filter manufactured i.e is it made in Japan or a 3rd world country? Thanks

A: The Nikon 52mm Circular Polarizer II Filter is manufactured in Japan.

Nice to have my Canon lens cap fit again. I have a 10-22mm lens that needs a slim polarizer. This seems to do the trick. Great optics. Quality construction.

I use this filter on my Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VRII Zoom Lens. The frame is made of metal, and the lens of high quality glass. I am a Conservation Police Officer and work on and around water everyday. Therefore I require a good quality polarizing filter on my lens for my photos, and the Circular Polarizer Glass Filter II by Nikon is the best quality I have found and it works best on my Nikkor lens.

This is my first polarizer, it does work. I'm so surprised that the glass is still ok after I happened drop it on the concrete floor.

Outer diameter is 69.8mm. I use the filter on a Panasonic 100-300 lens (m4/3) with Panasonic provided lens cap and hood.
