A: I agree with Jan on this. It's not always consistent. I find that if the device is powered (like a gopro) it picks it right up. If it's a mini recorder, or a device that runs off of another units power (thunderbolt from a macbook) it might not pick it up.

However even though this is what is listed at times I have found that they will still work between walls and cabinets. Unfortunately the only way to find out if it will work for you is to test it.
