I purchased this as an upgrade to a smaller lens foot plate. That plate did not allow a quick switch from shoulder strap carry to a monopod mount. I was attaching the shoulder strap to the camera body putting stress on the camera lens mount. Also, that's a more awkward carry. The Kirk plate when paired with the QD swivel provides a means to switch quickly to a Acra head and mount the shoulder strap to the lens foot quickly. Much better carry system. 5

The design of this LP-71 lens plate is brilliant. With the raised stopper in front - you need only a single screw to secure the plate and resist twisting. It is also possible to add the lens support guide if require in the future. Overall, the shopping experience with B&H is very good - very prompt update on delivery status. This is especially important for overseas customers doing online shopping. 5

For the Canon RF 100-500mm in tripod use, this is a very good plate. I prefer it to the RRS L-85 Rev B, which, though it is also excellent, I replaced with the Kirk LP-71. The Kirk works well with the RRS clamps I have on ballheads and mono-pods. Kirk also adds a QD quick disconnect system feature and stops to prevent the lens slipping out of its Arca Swiss grooves while on a tripod. Smoothly machined and finished. 5
