The d:facto MMC4018V Supercardioid Microphone Capsule for Vocal from DPA features an isolation-optimized polar pattern and is designed to augment the human vocal range. It can be used to capture speech and vocals in sound reinforcement applications such as for stage, recordings, and more.

The capsule provides an applicable opening angle around the center axis comparable to a cardioid, which means that a pleasant tolerance around the center axis is obtained for the singer. In addition, the rear rejection is higher than other supercardioids, and the rear lobe opening is extremely uniform and controlled.

You can combine the d:facto MMC4018V Supercardioid Microphone Capsule with any of the d:facto adapters for wireless systems or the d:facto handle for wired use (sold separately).

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What adapter would be required to connect the DPA microphones to a Zoom F3?

A: To connect the DPA Microphones 4560 CORE Binaural Headset Microphone to the XLR inputs on the Zoom F3 Recorder you will need to implement two DPA Microphones DAD6001 Microdot to 3-Pin XLR Adapter with Belt Clip (BH #DPDAD6001BC) (belt clip is removable): https://bhpho.to/35LfsvP

Q: 2. Could this be a solution if we want to capture a voice with it and send it via a radio transmitter? By using for example two DAD6034 and a Y adapter cable (mini-jack splitter) to connect everything to the wireless transmitter? If the transmitter only supports one input, we will lose stereophony, but this is not essential in our case. We want to use them instead of a lav mic (camouflage+no rustle).

A: The DPA Microphones 4560 CORE Binaural Microphone is not a good choice for a mic to use with a wireless transmitter since it has two separate output connectors and requires 5 to 10V. A wireless microphone transmitter like one from Sennheiser accepts only one input and sends a mono audio signal to the receiver. What you could do is connect the mic to separate channels on a mixer and then send the left and right audio from the mixer wirelessly to two receivers to maintain the stereophony.

Q: 3. Does it come with any kind of protective case?

A: No, a case is not included with the MK 41 capsule.

Q: 4. Is the spec. given here for the diaphragm an error? i.e., 0.05' / 16 mm. Surely 16mm = 0.5'

A: Here us the specification as published by DPA microphones: Capsule Diameter - 16mm (0.6 in).

Q: 5. Would this windscreen be compatible with the 4018b?

A: This should fit the capsule portion of the DPA 4018.

Q: 6. Is this compatible with the DPA 4560 CORE Binaural headset?

A: Yes, the DPA Microphones Zip Case can be used with a DPA 4560 CORE headset.

Q: 7. So this capsule screws onto the Lectro HHa body and works with no issue?

A: Yes, the Telefunken M80-WH Wireless Dynamic Microphone Capsule is an interchangeable capsule that will work with the Lectrosonics HH and HHa wireless handheld transmitters, as well as with Sony UTX-M03 wireless handheld transmitters, and Shure Axient, UHF-R, QLXD, ULXD, ULX, PG, PGX, SLX, and UR2 wireless handheld transmitters.

Q: 8. Does the Electro voice ND96 have an on-off switch?

A: The Electro-Voice ND96 Dynamic Supercardioid Vocal Microphone does not have an on/off switch.

Q: 9. Is this compatible with the Shure GLXD-D wireless microphones?

A: Yes - it will screw right onto the handle.

Q: 10. Compared to the DPA 4097, what is the reach of the 4018? In other words, how far from the speaker's mouth can the 4018 be used to still get good sound?

A: Both the DPA Microphones 4097 CORE Micro Shotgun Microphone and the DPA Microphones d:dicate MMC4018 Supercardioid Microphone Capsule have directional supercardioid pickup patterns. DPA does not specify a specific distance from the source for optimal sound capture. As sound sources can vary, different distances from the source to the microphone can achieve similar or different results depending on the scenario. In general, however, 2-3 feet is a typical distance for good audio capture with this style of mic.

I got this for doing interviews for an art photography project, and it works great. The sound is rich and well rounded with very little ambient intrusion due to the excellent side rejection. I am recording with a four track recorder strapped under my DSLR and then feeding it back into the camera. The person who does my photoshop was supper impressed with the quality and commented how much better it sounded that the broadcast quality video rig.

For over a decade I used a Shure SM58 for live performances. While it worked well for singing, audiences would have trouble understanding me when I was just talking in between songs. The E945 provides an added clarity that really highlights nuance when singing and everyone in the venue can now understand me when I talk between songs. It's a very good microphone for live shows.
