The Canon BP-828 Lithium-Ion Battery Pack works with the XF405, XF400, XA15, XA11, XA35, XA30, XA25, XA20, Vixia HF G50, Vixia HF G40, Vixia HF G30, Vixia HF G21, and Vixia GX10 camcorders. This replacement battery pack features a capacity of 2670mAh and 7.4V of output power. Small and lightweight, lithium-ion batteries can be charged or discharged at any time without developing a memory effect.

The battery takes about 405 minutes to charge via the camcorder and about 260 minutes when using an optional CG-800D battery charger. Charging time will vary depending on the charge state of the battery when you begin charging and the temperature. The battery should be charged at temperatures between 50 to 86°F, and it will not charge if the ambient or the battery pack's temperature is either colder than 32°F or higher than 104°F.

We've tried using other brands for Canon XA-series cameras (like Watson's BP-828) but definitely recommend sticking with the legit Canon brand batteries. We've been really happy with how this lithium-ion battery holds a charge! 5

I tried a generic battery for both of my canon video recorders. One did not charge and the other drained quickly while using. I returned them both and bought the largest Canon battery. The generic battery charged to 176 minutes but the Canon battery (same size as generic) charged to over 230 minutes. Definitely a more reliable battery. 5

I purchased this battery as a replacement for my Canon XA11 camcorder. The original battery did not record long and actually went out after about 1.5 hours while doing a live recording. This battery has been great...lasting so far up to almost 3 hours. Great buy for my use. ~ 5

These cost more than generic batteries... but these OEM batteries hold their charging power for a few years of heavy use, where the generic batteries usually go bad after a few months. OEM is also better for the health of the cameras. On a Canon XA10, a new BP-828 gives us 336 minutes of filming time (!!). In a Canon XA50, 225 minutes (!!). I'd say these batteries lose about 10-15% capacity every year and will last about 4-5 years of heavy use (every weekend). Well worth the investment. 5
