$198.00 $291.06

Designed specifically to fit onto a Canon RF 400 f/2.8 IS lens, the black LensCoat TravelCoat is a 3mm thick, shock-absorbing, closed-cell neoprene cover that is custom tailored to fit the lens with its lens hood mounted in reverse position. It is designed to fully protect the lens from bumps, scratches, and abrasions when not in use, without the need of a more traditional bulky lens case. The trim fit of the coat offers extra storage space when you're packing for that long photo excursion, or even a day trip. The coat simply slides over the lens, and closes with a secure touch fastener. The black TravelCoat renders the lens dark when shooting in low light scenarios. Use with the appropriate optional Hoodie for complete lens protection.

Q: 1. Is this the correct Travel Hood for the new Canon 100-400 Version II Lens ?

Q: 2. What lens hood comes with this lens?

A: It comes with this lens hood: https://bhpho.to/3iaAAj9

Q: 3. How does this lens perform (effect on IQ) with the 1.4 and 2 TCs?

A: When using the Canon RF 400mm f/2.8 L IS USM Lens wide open with the Canon Extender RF 1.4x, image sharpness is decreased modestly in the center in the center of the frame, but corners are nearly unaffected. Stopping down one stop brings a nice improvement and impressive sharpness across the frame. The RF 1.4x adds a slight barrel distortion but notably does not affect lateral CA. The results are a bit soft when using the Canon Extender RF 2x on the RF 400mm f/2.8. The sharpness is good across the frame if you stop down one stop. The 2x Extender increases lateral CA noticeably and barrel distortion slightly. The 2x Extender does impact sharpness and contrast.

Q: 4. It has been said by Bryan Carnathan from The Digital Picture site that this lens may suffer from focus shift between f/2.8 and f/11. Since I will be using this lens for insect photography, I would like to know if anyone noticed this problem?

A: Like many still camera lenses compared to Cine lenses focus shift should be expected.

Q: 5. Does this work with the collar attached?

A: LensCoat TravelCoat for Canon RF 100-500mm Lens can be used on the Canon RF 100-500mm f/4.5-7.1 L IS USM Lens with the tripod collar.

Q: 6. 1.4 mean 4 times life size?

A: This has 1.4x Magnification. This is about one and a half times life size.

Q: 7. Does this lens come with a hard case?

A: Canon RF 400mm f/2.8 L IS USM Lens only comes with a soft case. It does not include a hard case.

Q: 8. There seems to be more than one lens hood offered as one seems longer than the other in the illustration. Which do we get, the longer or shorter one?

A: Canon RF 400mm f/2.8 L IS USM Lens comes with the Canon Lens Hood ET-155 (WIII) included in the box. WIch is the long version.

Q: 9. Is this basically the EF version with an RF mount attached or is it totally a new lens with new optics, focusing motors, etc?

A: The Canon RF 400mm f/2.8 L IS USM Lens, and the Canon EF 400mm f/2.8L IS III USM Lens has the same optical design.

Q: 10. Is this lens compatible with the Canon MR-14EX II Macro Ring Lite?

A: Yes this will work on the new 100mm Macro lens.

Bought this for the Canon 16mm f/2.8. Fits perfectly and works just as well as Canon's overpriced version.

I worried 600 mm.But I wanted the light lens. If my occasion is 400mm, the child's athletic meet photography is also possible. There are no bought budgets, so the substitute which is 400 mm of 600 mm in +RF1.4x.When wanting 800 mm, I take a picture of 400 mm by 1.6 times of +RF1.4x and crop mode.I'm taking a picture in EOSR6 now, but so 7,700,000 picture elements of crop mode is in the light room and strengthens it and gives a picture element.Which is changed for R3.I wanted 45,000,000 picture elements, so R3 is regrettable. Essential best as well as matter of coming out.I'm not good at English by Japanese and a PC is being translated, but I'll trust whether the written contents can be understood.I thank B&H for usual politeness which is under care for a long time.

Bought this about a month ago and this lens is take sharp. Con: it’s a bit heavy for someone in my old age to hand-hold this beast, but I still love this beauty.

Over the years, I have taken tens of thousands of images with the Canon prime lenses. Various versions of the 600 as well as the 800 and the 400 DO. This lens is perhaps the best glass yet. However, I have only used it with the R5 and am now mirrorless only. My perception is that my last mirrored Canon 1DX Mk III may have been a better camera.

The RF400mm F2.8 L IS USM lens has been a work horse when it comes to shooting football photography. The clarity and reach have been instrumental in capturing those ever sought after action shots. It took time to adjust to the weight and how to use it with a monopod. I still have one issue that I haven't been able to figure out and that is periodically the lens will go out of focus. I use AF and when this issue occurs, I switch to manual focus, refocus, then switch back to AF.

I've been shooting razor blades ever since I got this monster. Super sharp, contrast value is amazing, light weight and superior overall performance. I was fortunate, my daughter bought it for me as a gift. Very few photographers will be able to produce the same quality whenever you shoot it. I use this lens with an R3 or R6 Mark II unbelievable. I don't get any Birthday or Christmas presents for a few years but I'm good with that. Canon has really separated themselves from the competition with this one.

it's been almost a year since I bought this. It is worth every penny; I have used for sport and images are jaw dropping. I have even taken it for astrophotography! yes Astro! for deep sky images, the far galaxies are tack sharp. I took to the zoo and will be taking on Safari next week. It is lighter than you might expect a lens this size to be, it can be handheld (not for long) but it can be. It is a luxury item as said in other reviews. But once you get it, you realize it is a necessity for great images. Love, love, love it! Thank you canon!
