I had the chance to pick up my lens on my recent trip to NYC from B&H store. I used the lens around town mostly shooting portraits. Its low light capability and perfect bokeh was exactly what I had hoped to find. The lens did make my camera front heavy, but once I added my grip battery pack it was much easier to use. 5

I used this lens to focus on my daughter's eye in pitch-darkness as she watched a fireworks show, and made a photo of her face with the reflections of fireworks in her eye. What this lens can do, and its optics, are just stunning. The lens is in a category of its own (and I say that as someone who owns about 10 of the budget f/0.95 lenses, many of which I also love, but can't compare to this one). For those of you who have seen that it won a certain photography website's Worst Lens Of The Year Award, ask yourself why that website based that opinion pretty much solely on slight color fringing in a fringing torture test that no ultrafast lens ever made can pass, but heaped superlatives on other budget ultrafast lenses without even testing them the same way. I own those other lenses and I can promise you their color fringing is WAY worse than the Fujifilm's. 5

Great dreamy soft bokeh 1/43000 shutter speed needed under the sun so ND filter is a must Very sharp wide open when you nail focus Very sexy looking front element Superb color and rendering Af is fast enough for portrait shooting Afc is ok (sufficient to follow regular movements during portrait shooting) 5

If you are looking for the perfect lens to use at dark environments with vibrant ambiance (a flash would ruin), then this is it. It renders so beautifully. I love the pictures that come out of this things. THe focusing is not crazy fast but ti's not slow and most importantly it's confident. For the types of pictures I take this has easily taken top spot. Plus the focal length is so great I love having more room for indoor settings than the 56 f/1.2 will allow. It's expensive and the 56 1.2 will be a better choice for some people with its size,focal length, and price, but for me this is definitely worth it, easily. 5
