Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does it work with Digital Bolex? What does MP camera mean?

A: This is a lens designed for cameras that record in a format up to 720p. MP means it's a megapixel lens. This model is a 1 MP lens. If the format being recorded is any higher this lens is not recommended.

Q: 2. Will it work with a Sony a7ii

A: According to the following page on Reikan's site https://blog.reikanfocal.com/2015/05/reikan-focal-2-test-release-2-now-available/, we should be able to use Reikan Focal Pro in “File Mode” with Sony A7 series files. However, I get an error message saying it is an unsupported camera whenever I try. From the page: “So if you want to calibrate a Sony 70-400 using an LA-EA4 on a Sony A7 camera, or check out the aperture sharpness results for a completely manual vintage Zuiko Jupiter 8 lens, you can do it easily now with File Mode!” Note: I'm using version 2.4 but this was announced in version 2.0

Q: 3. In the product pictures, I see several wires running between the laptop and the camera. What sort of hardware do I need to connect my camera to my computer?

A: The USB cable that came with the camera connects the camera to the laptop or computer. In some cases the software is able to control the camera and "enter" the correcting factors automatically, in others you have to manually add the numbers before the next step is performed. In this case make sure you have a very secured tripod/tripod head to avoid any movement otherwise you will need to start all over.

Q: 4. Does the current version of the software support the new Canon 1DX Mark II? Or is a software update needed before it can be used?

A: Probably not. I just opened it and checked for updates (there weren't any). It's been a while since I last saw one and that update, as far as I understood, only really corrected bugs and didn't add any cameras.

Q: 5. Is the version 2 pro software still as buggy as many of the comments suggest?

A: The software version that I downloaded from FoCal was ver 2.4. No CD comes in the box. I ran the software on a MacPro with MacOS 10.11.6. I could not get the software to work. The software wanted a driver from the Apple developer library. Contacted support via email. They could not resolve the issue. Returned the software to B&H who thankfully issued a refund. I now do my lens calibration manually with a calibration target.

Q: 6. Does this work on Nikon Mirror less body's?

A: Yes Reikan FoCal Pro Lens Calibration is compatible with Nikon mirrorless cameras. In this link it lists the cameras that are supported and more information on the calibration process of each. https://www.reikanfocal.com/supported-cameras.html

Q: 7. can this be used on a Canon 7D mark ii with tamron lenses?

A: Yes........

Q: 8. How does the lens focus? and How is the diaphragm controlled?

A: You adjust the focus and aperture manually. There are no auto functions available.

Q: 9. Does this support Mac 10.15 (Catalina)?

A: Hi Carol, Yes, macOS 10.15 Catalina is fully supported :) Best,. Dave

Q: 10. Does this lens -Kowa C-mount 16mm 1.4- fit the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera?

A: The Blackmagic Pocket Cinema camera works with any 4/3 mount lens and is not compatible with a C-mount lens.
