Today's larger imaging sensors require more light, and with the Alpine Astronomical Baader M48 Extension Tube, you get it. Unlike the smaller, more common T-2 size, the larger M48 provides significantly more light throughput, and its 7.5mm optical length allows you to adjust the working distance to put the focal point exactly where you want it. You can use this tube by itself or stacked with other tubes. The tube is made of anodized aluminum and outfitted with machined external (male) threads on one side and internal (female) threads on the other.

Q: 1. Is this item the same as badder Universal Alan Gee II - Telecompressor (UAG II) ?

A: No, the Alpine Astronomical Alan Gee Mark II Telecompressor is not the same as the Universal Alan Gee II - Telecompressor (UAG II). If looking on the baader-planetarium.com site, the item here would be # 2454400, whereas the UAG II is # 2454405.

Q: 2. With the canon 50mm macro lens, what is the greatest magnification achievable?

A: I have both the EF 12 II and the EF25II. I tend to be happier with the EF 12 II on my 100mm macro. I think it is a matter of preference for the work at hand. Hope this is of some help. Good Luck, m

Q: 3. Does this work well with the canon 24-70mm 2.8 or the 70-200 mm 2.8?

A: All extension tubes are plain metal rings with electronics contact. It works with all lens.

Q: 4. this Canon Extension Tube EF 12 work for my sony 6500 to Canon EF-S 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM Lens?

A: I doubt it as the lens mounts are different.

Q: 5. Will this extension tube allow EF-S lenses to be used on EF-mount cameras, such as the new Blackmagic Design URSA Mini EF mount? I have a collection of EF-S lenses for my Canon 70D and was wondering if I'd be able to get any use out of them on an EF-mount camera such as that. Thanks

A: I don't have any EF-S lenses, but from what I understand the white dot indicates that you can mount the tube to such lenses. BUT, even if you can then mount the tube onto an EF body, you will lose infinity focus. What you gain with extension tunes is the ability to focus a lens closer for macro work. This changes the normal distance focusing ability of any lens. So I guess the answer is yes and no. Yes it should mount between an EF-S lens and and EF body, but no if you expect this to turn your EF-S lens into an EF lens.

Q: 6. Mine doesn't seem to work. Tried it with a EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro L series and a Canon EF 16-35mm f/4L. Couldn't get it to focus no matter what I tried. What am I doing wrong?

A: It adjusts your backfocus to allow for a macro image. You will find that with a zoom, you can use your zoom control to help focus - it will change your focal plane. For fixed focal length lenses, you have to physically move to find the distance at which the target will be in focus, almost like you are using a lens with a nearly fixed focal distance. That's because you shifted the lens out of the focus plane

Q: 7. I have an E-620 Olympus with Zuiko Digital 14-45mm & 40-150mm lenses. Can this extension work with these lenses?

A: As far I know, yes. I used this on an E3 and an E500.All Olympus full size 4/3 bodies have the same lens mount

Q: 8. Is the barrel of the tube metal? Or just the mounts.

A: The barrel of the Canon Extension Tube EF 25 II is not metal .

Q: 9. does thiswork for EF-S lens to be mounted on full frame body camera ?

A: Yes it will work with an EF-S lens on a Full Frame body. It's recommended for lenses with a focal length of 50mm and higher.

Q: 10. Compatible with Canon SL3?

A: Yes.
