The white Sanken COS-11D Omni Lavalier Microphone with Normal Sensitivity and Universal TA5F Connector for Lectrosonics Transmitters is a subminiature lav microphone designed to deliver clear, full-bodied sound and reliable performance, making it a popular choice among industry professionals in broadcast, TV, theater, film, videography, and more.

Engineered to meet the standards of modern digital wireless microphone systems, the COS-11D is RF shielded to eliminate interference issues and ensure a pristine audio signal. The microphone capsule features a rectangular design that sits vertically, increasing the surface area and allowing this tiny mic to offer a rich, full sound that outperforms many larger models.

The mic's 50 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response rolls-off extreme low end and provides accurate, transparent audio reproduction with a small presence boost in the 6 kHz area for crisp, intelligible speech. With a forgiving omnidirectional polar pattern that picks up sound in a 360° pattern, levels stay consistent, even when the subject turns away from the mic.

A water-resistant mesh screen protects against humidity, perspiration, makeup, bad weather, and other potential on-location issues, while the durable cable is also moisture-resistant and built to stay soft and pliable, even after extended use. This version of the COS-11D terminates in a universal TA5F connector that is wired for use with both servo-bias and non-servo-bias Lectrosonics transmitters. A metal windscreen, holder clip, rubber mount, and plastic case are included.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I read some posts about unstable connection with Sennh EW100. I want to use it with Sennheiser EW100G3 system. Everyone have problems with EW100 or it were just defective?

A: The Sanken COS-11D Omni Lavalier Microphone with Normal Sensitivity & 3.5mm Locking Sennheiser Connector should work well with Sennheiser transmitter products featuring a 3.5mm locking input connection. We are not aware of any common issues in this scenario and would suspect that perhaps the specific lavalier cable or transmitter input in the described scenario may have become intermittent with use over time.

Q: 2. Will this work with Rodelink transmitter?

A: The Sanken COS-11D with the Sennheiser connector will fit the Rode transmitter. The Sanken is a fantastic lav as well. Good choice.

Q: 3. is this compatible with sennheiser sk100 transmitter ew 100 g3?

A: Hi, this listing is correct if you need a white COS11 wired for Sennheiser Evolution transmitters.

Q: 4. Can the Sanken Cos 11d be plugged directly into a camera, specifically the Panasonic G85? If not, what is a high end lav mic you would recommend that could be used like this?

A: The Sanken Cos 11D comes in a variety ends. If your's ends in a 1/8 TRS then it will fit into your camera. I plugged mine into a Nikon D610 and it worked fine. I was surprised, because I thought it would require phantom power. Maybe the Nikon supplies that. I even tried using a 1/8 TRS 10 foot extension cable with a barrel connector to allow for normal distance of interviewing someone. It still worked.

Q: 5. Has anyone used it with the new RODE Wireless Go system? I am wondering if it would work and if there would be any loss in the quality of the sound compared with the Sennheiser systems...

A: You can use a COS11-D with the Rode Wireless Go system, but you will need a version of the mic with a standard non-locking 3.5mm TRS connector, as the transmitter for the Wireless Go does not use the same locking connector that Sennheiser and the other Rode wireless systems such as the Filmmaker Kit require. The Wireless Go is designed with standard 3.5mm connectors on the transmitter's mic input and receiver output, and intended to be very easy to use for general consumers.

Q: 6. Hi, just wondering if someone could tell me if this is compatible with the SONY UTX-B2 wireless transmitter? Thanks, Ross.

A: As long as it is wired for the transmitter's connection, it should work without a problem.

Q: 7. Why isn't this available with a microdot connector? I have both a Sony wireless system and a Shure.

A: The Sanken COS-11D lavalier microphone is not offered with a microdot connector because such a version is not made by Sanken.

Q: 8. Are these locking 3.5mm / ⅛in connections compatible with the Saramonic uwmic9? The wireless receiver has a bit of a lip around the outlet…

A: Unfortunately they are not. Sanken makes the COS-11D for many wireless systems. If you don't see the name of your system listed. Then it is not made for you're system. All 3.5mm connectors are not wired the same. Because it's made for Sennheiser doesn't mean it's wired for your 3.5mm system.

Q: 9. Will this work with a Sennheiser G3 receiver/transmitter set?

A: Yes. This mic will work with the Sennheisser G3.

Q: 10. Will this mic work on Sony and Sennheiser packs?

A: No it will not. If you have a Sony wireless system then you have to get the COS 11D that says for Sony. The same is true for Sennheiser if you have a Sennheiser system you have to get the one that says for Sennheiser. The two are wired differently. The Sanken is an fantastic lav so make sure you get the right one.

I'm not a sound guy, so ease of use for 1-man-band situations is critical. The stock mic with my sennheiser packs...not good at all. SO much handling noise, tinny sound. This thing is sweet - cuts great with the MKH-50 overhead, super easy to place with minimal rustle. You get what you pay for, and this mic is my top-pick for the Sennheiser packs - makes the fairly cheap radio system sound GOOD.

I wont go on in detail about the sound quality, it is well known for this. I certainly beats my ME2 that comes with the Sennheiser EW series. Other things that are not mentioned about the mic, but a very helpful features. The mic comes with a weighted connector, which is great for dropping it down the talents/interviewee's clothing! The stock mounts are great, the clip mount (for outside clothing) allows you to loop the cord so that a little tug on the cord does not create any noise. The rubber mount (for under clothing) takes tape very well, cleans up nicely and mounts to the mike isolating the head from rubbing against clothing. The cord feels very much like the one off the set of headphones that comes with an iPod. It is not stiff, but not soft - it wont develop kinks or dents easily. The cord is slightly textured, but glue residue from Hydrocolloid or Micropore tape can be rubbed off easily. It is the little details that make for a great, usable mic - and Sanken has definitly paid attention to the little things!

I decided to upgrade my mics that came with the Sennheiser EW100's and did a bunch of research. Came across a few people that raved about this mic and I can see why. (OK...HEAR why!) Much more natural/flat sound than the stock mic and cable is more robust. Being an omni it works no matter which direction it's pointed. I'm a little let down by the variety...or lack of variety of mounting accessories but the sound quality more than makes up the difference. It's it a little on the large side too. Important...it is MUCH hotter than the stock mic and you must turn down the gain at the transmitter.

This mike has a really nice, rich sound, and pairs perfectly with a Lectrosonics transmitter. My only worry is that the connection between the wire and the plug seems a little delicate, so it's probably a good idea to reinforce it with some tape if it's likely to get tugged.

Highly recommended, especially for applications where you have to conceal the lav (narrative film production, some documentary / reality, etc). Solid sound from such a small mic.

I use this mic mostly to mic actors but I sometimes also use it as a plant mic. Its great because its small so it can be hidden very easily on the body or in the scene. I can't think of anything negative about this microphone.

Replaced my ME-2 microphone with the Sanken's after reading all the reviews online. What a difference in quality. The sound is so natural and the range is incredible. I also noticed the how quiet the microphone was from the start. Make sure to turn the gain down to -15 db at the head. These are really a hot microphone. Highly recommend these.
