Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does the HDMI output still retain the full HDMI Audio output?

A: Yes it does. The Audio is still present on the HDMI output when using the DVDO HDMI 2.0 Audio Extractor.

Q: 2. Does this actually record 4K30 signal? The specs here say "Capture up to UHD 4K30 to Your Computer" and ..." lets you capture up to UHD 4K signals with embedded audio via an HDMI input" But after sifting through the specs on the manufacturer website found this little nugget. "Record in up to 38402160 resolution (4k) at 30Hz with hardware up-scaling/down-scaling. The dongle will accept 4K/30Hz signals from a gaming console and will automatically downscale the output video to 1080p/30 HD HDMI video signals if needed." Huh? So, is this 4K or 1080 with upscaling. So, it accepts 4K, then converts it to 1080P, then UPSCALES back to 4K for recording? This seems like a terrible way to record 4K. Unless I'm not understanding something? Please clear this up.

A: The KanexPro 4K HDMI to USB 2.0 Capture Box with HDMI Loop Output can accept HDMI sources up to 3840 x 2160 30p and output up to 3840 x 2160 30p on the HDMI output and downscales to 1920 x 1080 30p for the webcam signal over USB 2.

Q: 3. It looks like this is powered by 5vdc. Can I power it with USB rather than the power adapter?

A: The DVDO HDMI 2.0 Audio Extractor does not have a USB port with which to intake power, so powering the audio extractor via USB is not possible. We recommend using the included power supply to power the DVDO HDMI 2.0 Audio Extractor.

Q: 4. Will this work with a Roku Ultra player?

A: Yes, The DVDO HDMI 2.0 Audio Extractor should work with the Roku Ultra and allow you to extract the audio so you can use it with TOSLINK SPDIF Digital or Analog speakers.

Q: 5. Will this work as a device to stream capture from the Dishanywhere app in the web browser or using Capture4me app ?

A: This will not allow you to capture a Dish Network or any other cable/satellite feed.

Q: 6. Does the DVDO HDMI 2.0 Audio Extractor output Stereo Audio or 2 channels of Mono audio?

A: The DVDO HDMI 2.0 Audio Extractor will take the input and output it the way it came in, i.e., if it comes in as stereo, it will output it the same way.

Q: 7. Does this Downmix to 2 channels or can you choose which 2 channels it outputs?

A: Unfortunately this product does not give you the option to choose which channels it outputs. It will mix everything together.

Q: 8. Can this device generate a CEC on/off to put a CEC operable monitor into/out of standby by applying and removing HDMI sources?

A: Yes, the DVDO HDMI 2.0 Audio Extractor can auto-detect input signal status, and automatically trigger a CEC command to turn on or off TV with CEC support.

Q: 9. I have a similar question to one that was asked already but not yet answered. I want to use this to convert HDMI output from a Canon 7D and feed it into Zoom or OBS. I have tried the Canon Utility and there is noticeable lag. Can this be used with that camera and feed it into a Mac?

A: This product only works if your camera has a clean HDMI output. If the camera does not have a clean HDMI output then the capture device will include the screen overlay information (such as battery life, memory card space etc). check the manual to determine whether or not your camera has the ability to turn off the screen overlays.

Q: 10. Can I use this to convert the HDMI output of my video camera and feed it into the Zoom app on my Macbook?

A: Yes
