Q: 1. Can I use this with newtonian telescope using off axis reduction?

A: For the DayStar Filters QUARK H-Alpha Eyepiece Solar Filter (Chromosphere) BH #DADSZ4C • MFR #DSZ4C simply inserts into 1.25" or 2" diagonals and accepts 1.25" eyepieces.

Q: 2. can I insert a filter with 4mm thickness to this holder?

A: No, the NiSi V7 Alpha 100mm Aluminum Filter Holder only supports 2MM thick filters.

Q: 3. Is this item the same as badder Universal Alan Gee II - Telecompressor (UAG II) ?

A: No, the Alpine Astronomical Alan Gee Mark II Telecompressor is not the same as the Universal Alan Gee II - Telecompressor (UAG II). If looking on the baader-planetarium.com site, the item here would be # 2454400, whereas the UAG II is # 2454405.

Q: 4. I want to install this Rail in my 8SE along with a set of Farpoint 160mm Mounting Rings with Losmandy Dovetail to fix my guider scope, a 50 mm Astromania Finder and Guidescope, will this set up work?

A: Yes it should

Q: 5. the sony sensor filter stack has two separate filters. One is a clip frame, the other is glued on. Should we remove both?

A: The glued filter is the actual IR filter, I believe, but you need to contact Sony for confirmation--they don't have much information available about that.

Q: 6. Is the 82mm mounting ring compatible with general 72-82mm Step-Up Ring?

A: Yes, you can use the V7's mounting ring onto step-up rings without issue.

Q: 7. Can I add 2mm or 4mm filter guides to the filter holder like the LEE Filters holder?

A: The NiSi V7 Alpha 100mm Aluminum Filter Holder does not have optional guides to change the filter thickness.

Q: 8. Can I insert a 4x4 filter, a 4x6 filter, and a NiSi True Color CPL Filter all into this holder?

A: You can insert 4x4 filters, 4x6 filters, and the NiSi True Color CPL Filter in the NiSi V7 Alpha 100mm Aluminum Filter Holder.

Q: 9. I Have An F7 102mm Triplet Refractor From Explore Scientific, If I Purchase This HA Solar Filter What Else Would I Need To Purchase

A: The DayStar Filters QUARK H-Alpha Eyepiece Solar Filter inserts into 1.25" or 2" diagonals and accepts 1.25" eyepieces. I recommend using UV/IR cut filters. Follow this link https://bit.ly/3UpqtKg if you are using a diagonal, or https://bit.ly/494r2gU if you are not. The following energy rejection filter is also recommended for optical tube assemblies over 80mm. https://bit.ly/3vYBecc

Q: 10. Will this work on an Orion Astroview 120ST (600mm, f/5)? If so, will I need any additional adapters or extension tubes (for focusing)? Thank you.

A: The DayStar Filters QUARK H-Alpha Eyepiece Solar Filter (Prominence) BH #DADSZ4P • MFR #DSZ4P simply inserts into 1.25" or 2" diagonals and accepts 1.25" eyepieces. This design enables the use of nighttime telescopes for solar viewing. In addition to the tunable H-alpha filter, the Quark also functions as a 4.3x Barlow lens, with a 2-element lens system designed to be telecentric which flattens the field of view and reduces parallax, and optical coatings that are optimized for the 656nm H-alpha wavelength.
