The Neumann MA 1 Monitor Alignment Microphone and Calibration System is designed to help engineers, musicians, and producers get more accurate and sonically consistent mixes from their Neumann KH 80 DSP monitors or non-DSP KH-Series monitors when used with the KH 750 DSP subwoofer. The system uses an omnidirectional measurement mic and a downloadable software for Mac and Windows with Fraunhofer IIS algorithms to calibrate and adjust the phase and amplitude of the speakers to compensate for room imperfections.

The system is easy to use; simply connect the balanced outputs of your audio interface or monitor controller to your KH monitors. Connect the ethernet ports of your DSP-based monitors into a network switcher (available separately) and then route the switcher output into your computer. Plug the calibration mic into a mic input on your interface (48V phantom power is required) and follow the calibration process in your software. An SG105 mic clip is included to mount the microphone to a stand.

The MA 1 software algorithms use the measurements to adjust the speaker settings to a room-specific target curve that compensates for the room's acoustic flaws. All the correction parameters are stored in the DSP speaker, so it's always there without having to worry about plug-ins and driver issues. In addition, once calibrated, you won't need the ethernet connection.

As mentioned, you can also calibrate non-DSP KH monitors, as long as you are also using a KH 750 DSP subwoofer. The KH 750 DSP has enough processing power to align the entire system, including the two analog speaker connected its outputs. The KH 120, KH 310, and KH 420 loudspeakers benefit from having the linerization of their built-in crossovers for more clarity, a tighter bass, and more accurate time correction.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. This comes with a transmitter which can be mounted on the camera. And the receiver is built into the monitor. Is this correct?

A: The SmallHD Ultra 5 Bolt 6 RX 750 Monitor Kit (V-Mount) is just a receiver attached to the Cine 5 monitor, there is no transmitter in this kit.

Q: 2. whats the max brightness when the bolt 6 rx activated because in my cine7 there is limit when it attached to the rx 70% bright ?

A: SmallHD does not list the SmallHD Ultra 5 Bolt 6 RX 750 Monitor Kit (V-Mount) as changing its brightness. Regarding the Cine7, SmallHD cautions "*Some monitors will default to Studio Brightness if the power source (voltage) is low to help save energy. Change power sources to allow for Full Backlight capabilities."

Q: 3. just want to ask is the cine 7 stale has 70% brightness limit when it is attached to the teradek rx monitor module?

A: The SmallHD Cine 7 Monitor with Bolt 6 Monitor Module 750 RX Kit (V-Mount) is limited to 75% brightness. This is a design feature that prevents overheating of the monitor due to the increase in heat from the monitor module.

Q: 4. Can you disable the transmitter function to use as a regular monitor, to lower power draw?

A: The wireless transmitter of the SmallHD ULTRA 5 Bolt 6 TX 750 Monitor can be disabled by turning off Enable HDMI in the output settings. This will turn the physical HDMI output and wireless output off in order to reduce power consumption.

Q: 5. Will this work with older bolt 1080p transmitters?

A: The Teradek Bolt 4K RX Module is only compatible with other Bolt 4K models. Bolt transmitter and receiver units cannot be mixed between 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th generations. The Bolt 2000 series is the only exception -- 1st and 2nd generation Bolt 2000 units are compatible when updated with the same firmware package.

Q: 6. Is this HDMI only? No SDI?

A: The SmallHD ULTRA 5 Bolt 6 TX 750 Monitor can transmit from the HDMI or SDI inputs of the display. Also, the SmallHD ULTRA 5 Bolt 6 TX 750 Monitor supports cross-conversion, allowing you to input from HDMI and output SDI or input from SDI and output from HDMI if required. SmallHD Ultra 5 specs- Video I/O 1 x BNC (3G-SDI) Output 1 x HDMI Output 1 x BNC (3G-SDI) Input 1 x HDMI Input

Q: 7. How do you remove the antennas?

A: The antennas on the SmallHD ULTRA 5 Bolt 6 TX 750 Monitor are removed by gripping the base of the antenna and rotating counter clockwise to unscrew the antenna from the monitor.

Q: 8. Does this have the same size as the Royer Labs RSM-SS251 ?

A: While we do not have any of these items in stock to be able to do a physical hands-on comparison, I can confirm that the Mojave Audio Replacement Shockmount for MA-1000 Mic and the Royer Labs RSM-SS251 Sling-Shock Shockmount both fit the Mojave Audio MA-1000 Signature Series Multi-Pattern Tube Microphone.

Q: 9. What is the difference between the 103 vs 103MT vs 103D?

A: The TLM103 is the microphone only, the TLM103MT is the kit (stand, reflection filter, etc.) and the TLM103-D is the digital version, which is no longer available.

Q: 10. How is it different from item BH #SMN702TO4KVM ?

A: One is a kit the other is not. SMN702TO4KVM comes with the teradek Bolt 4K RX Monitor Module for Cine 7 and 702 Touch.
