The JRX218S is crafted from 3/4" MDF with glued and mechanically fastened joints and features non-resonant handles on each side for ease in transport. Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can I use this for a bass guitar?

A: I'm afraid not. This is a sub for a PA system. If you need a bass amp buy one that's what they are for. The sub will not give you the control and articulation you would get from a bass amp;.

Q: 2. What's the difference between this DRM 18S cab and the SRM 1850 cab? Why is there no specific sub for the SRM215-V-Flex cabs? I want to get the latter but your Mackie sub lines are confusing.

A: There are several differences between the two models and the best option would be based on your system and the type of application you would be using the subwoofer for. The DRM18S-P is a passive subwoofer capable of handling 500W RMS and 2000W peak power from a separate power amp. The SRM1850 is an active subwoofer which has a built-in power amp capable of producing 800W RMS and 1600W peak. The frequency response range and threshold for SPL are the same for both models. The DRM18S-P can be mounted on a pole or suspended while the SRM1850 is designed to be placed on the floor or stage and should not be pole mounted or suspended. I hope this information is helpful. Please feel free to contact us by phone or through live chat on the website if you have additional questions or need further assistance.

Q: 3. Will this fit the JBL EON718S?

A: The JBL BAGS Caster Board is designed specifically for use with the JBL PRX918XLF Subwoofer and is shaped to fit the cabinet's contours. The plate measures 25.5 x 23". The base of the JBL EON718S Subwoofer measures 25.1 x 24", It's not a perfect fit, but it might work.

Q: 4. What is, in essence, the difference between this subwoofer--VRX918S "flying"--and the JBL SRX918S ?

A: The JBL SRX918S 18" Powered Subwoofer is a self powered live sound subwoofer and cannot be fly-able for array deployment. The JBL VRX918S 18" High-Powered Flying Subwoofer is a passive subwoofer, a separate amplifier is required to power it and it can be suspended from an array .

Q: 5. How months financing

A: At B&H we have a Financing credit card, please see attached link for offers and to sign up: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/l/special-financing?origSearch=financing%20

Q: 6. How long are the feet? I can't find this info anywhere!

A: JBL has not published a spec on the height of the JBL LSR310S 200W Powered 10" Subwoofer's feet, but as it uses a downward-firing driver, they are designed to leave enough space for both proper dispersion and woofer excursion.

Q: 7. Does this come with any brackets need to fly these subs?

A: No, brackets are not included with the sub. The JBL VRX-AR-II Array Frame (B&H # JBVRXAFII) is the optional suspension frame for the VRX918SP. The system includes the center frame, two side arms, four quick-release pins, two drop levers, and a pair of 3/8" shackles.

Q: 8. What cable do I need to connect the IRX 12 to the IRX115S?

A: A standard XLR cable. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/845507-REG/Kopul_m4006_Kopul_Studio_Elite_4000.html

Q: 9. Hi i need The weels for This subwoofer.

A: Unfortunately there are no casters for the JBL VRX918SP. Everything to transport it is sold as one piece. We have it at B&H the part number is B&H # JBVRX918SSTR.

Q: 10. A JBL Array II Frame for VRX932LA and VRX918S is needed to fly this sub. CAN YOU FLY TWO SUBS ON ONE FRAME?

A: The VRX-AF-II attaches to one speaker.

Easy to carry with excellent bass response! Sound quality is good with matching Mackie Thump speakers. I Love Mackie products!

Was initially worried ordering this as some say it was designed to only work well with Polk Atrium Sat300 speakers, but I connected it to a dedicated amp as a sub alongside my 4 older Proficient AW525 speakers and it gives the extra bass I was looking for on my patio. I preferred the sound of this over a Klipsch CA-800-TSW.

I purchased three SRX815P and two SRX subs for my church. We have been using them for about two months and I could not be happier. I was planning to purchase the PRX series or potentially a different brand but the first time I heard the the SRX series I had to have them even though they were outside of my budget. I have had multiple comments on how great they sound. I am very happy.

I bought this for my house and am blown away with its performance. I have very high expectations, but this just took it to another level, in fact I see myself purchasing a 2nd one. I don't like my neighbors so with a 2nd one I should see for sale signs going up soon.

One note for any of you that are installing this in your home, you will run into a problem if your trying to run it out of the back of your AVR, the signal to the sub will not work as it is not strong enough. I had to purchase a small mixer, ran the sub ouput from my AVR to the mixer, and a 1/4" jack from the mixer to the Sub. Dont use a XLR connector is it is a balanced cable and does not work as well as a 1/4" unbalanced as I had to plug it into a RCA jack in my wall which is unbalanced as well.

With the mixer this sub just flat kills it. It is amazing and I highly recommend it. 5 Stars.

Glad & very, very happy with this JBL 218s & it's Performance. I'm from the Islands T&T & playing my type & others of course, jus can't go wrong. You get the Ultimate Lows that you would expect from this JBL 18. Unit is all Black & Attractive. Ty B&H for directing me to get this Subwoofer. Plays with two JRX 225, also from B&H.. Best Sound System..

I am powering the JBL 3181F with a Crown XLS1002 bridged at 4 ohms. While it doesn't get (or much) below 30hz, I never hear this subwoofer distort or bottom out. Its impact is thunderous and devastating. It took my home theater from amateur level bass to cinematic level bass. Best investment I've made so far in my home theater journey. Why try to replicate theater sound when you can purchase speakers made for it?

This is my first PA subwoofer so I don't have much to realistically compare it to but I'm happy for my purposes!
My use:
With 2 mackie thump go's through a mixer for karaoke, backyard parties, garage band, general small portable DJ setup.
I bought used and saved some money on an already good price.
At first I was disappointed with the power and sound when I hooked it to my mixer via the headphone out for volume control.
It turns out my cable was bad or sent a weak signal for the sub.
I replaced the Cable (1/4 TRS to split balanced XLR) and now that the signal is strong and clean and the sub actually sounds GOOD and musical - so a clean strong signal will do wonders with this subwoofer and I think a little break-in period helped it loosen up and improve SQ. Also properly setting the gain staging will help maximize output.
The smaller weight and size of the sub are a big factor for me; it's not that hard to move compared to the majority of other 18's.

If you're looking for a monster teeth rattling single sub with power for a live band in a larger venue this might not be the sub for you but it does great for small/medium DJ applications.
I will likely add another one for outdoor events or bigger venues.
Overall after a few weeks of ownership I recommend it if you manage your expectations

This subwoofer is the best on the market. I have two of these now paired with two SRX815P's. The sound is amazing, the bass hits hard. The boxes are very strong, I've let groups of people dance on them, that's how strong they are. The only downside, you need to people to transport them. The caster wheel system helps and if you had a trailer with a ramp, you could probably do it by yourself, but they are big and very heavy.
