The 10-stop, 112mm Ice CO Nano Multicoated ND Filter is a neutral density filter with a 1000x filter factor that provides a 10-stop exposure reduction. Its 3.0 optical density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed without overexposing your image. By slowing your exposure time, you can create motion blur for special effects or to convey a sense of movement. Opening your iris allows you to create shallow depth of field, which can help isolate your subject. Neutral density filters do not affect the coloration of the image and are ideal for pairing with other filters.

To prevent internal ghosting and reflections, each glass surface includes eight layers of anti-reflection coating. The nano-resistance coating offers improved beading effect when in contact with water, for effective use in harsh environments, and allows for more efficient cleaning. This neutral density filter is constructed from optical glass for clarity as well as color fidelity. It features an aluminum alloy filter ring for durability while remaining lightweight.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this filter vignette with a Canon 10-22 lens at 10mm on crop sensor camera?

A: A super-wide such as this lens will inherently vignette. The filter is a high level of quality and does not add any noticeable distortion to photos.

Q: 2. Will this Filter thread onto a regular 82mm-122mm step-up ring? Eg. BH #HYELA82112 • MFR #ELA82-112.

A: The NiSi ND8 112mm NC Neutral Density Filter for Nikon Z 14-24mm f/2.8 S Lens (3-Stop) will thread onto the H&Y Filters Evo-Series 82-112mm Aluminum Step-Up Ring without any problems!

Q: 3. Do you think I would get vignetting if I used this on a 10mm with a 77mm filter thread and a step up ring?

A: I suspect you would get 'some' vignetting, but don't have actual experience with this combination.

Q: 4. Hello. I purchased this filter but I am having difficulty working out the stop values for each dotted marker increment on the outside ring? I assume the first dot is 1 stop and last dot is 5 stops. If you divide the rest by 1/3 stop or 1/2 stop, then it does not work out mathematically. Any tips or manuals for this lens?

A: Unfortunately, this is typical of most variable neutral density filters across the spectrum. The markings between the minimum and maximum do not accurately indicate a precise number of stops, and even brands than mark them with ND factors miss the mark significantly; some brands are off by 1/3~2/3 stops with engraved filter factors. While I am not familiar with the physics and/or engineering reason for this, a commonly accepted technique is to adjust the camera settings first and then dial in the VND filter factor. This might be hard/impractical with longer shutter speeds though, so preemptive testing might be necessary.

Q: 5. Will this fit Zeiss Batis 67mm lens with the hood ON?

A: I would say most likely no as I cannot use a hood with any of my lenses when using this filter.

Q: 6. Anyone having issues using lens caps and this filter? Can you share what lens cap you're using on top of this?

A: I use the lens cap that came with the filter, and it works quiet well - it's a slip-on, but seems to stay without any issues.

Q: 7. This filter has a 72mm filter thread. So, is it same to assume that a lens cap will also be 72mm?

A: That's correct, Lenscap is 72mm. This filter lives on my camera almost permanently. Worth every cent!

Q: 8. Does this vignette on the tokina 11-20mm 2.8?

A: No there will be no vignetting when using the B+W 82mm XS-Pro Digital ND Vario MRC-Nano Filter. XS-PRO filters are designed with a thinner ring so they can avoid vignetting on a wide angle lens.

Q: 9. Does anyone know if you can stack two or more of these filters on the Nikkor 14-24 mm f/2.8?

A: The front of this filter is unthreaded so you cannot stack it unfortunately.

Q: 10. Does it come with a leather case? If sold separately do you carry it?

A: The 112mm NiSi filters come with a leatherette pouch
