Vienna Symphonic Vienna SYNCHRON-ized Appassionata Strings Sordino is a virtual instrument with a library that accurately captures the lush, passionate, and beautifully refined sound of muted large strings ensembles. The library is based on the VI Appassionata Strings II library, which was updated, reedited, and mapped to improve playability with the included Synchron Player, and to deliver the broad and emotive cinematic sound of large, string-ensemble performances right out of the box, for film and game scoring, trailer music, or sound design.

The ensembles of twenty first violins, twenty second violins, fourteen violas, twelve cellos, and ten double basses were recorded in the tightly controlled ambience of Vienna's purpose-built Silent Stage and virtually placed on the large Stage A of Synchron Stage Vienna using Synchron Player's integrated convolution reverb technology.

The library comes with an enhanced set of deep sampled con sordino articulations taken from the original VI Appassionata Strings II. The clearly laid out and color-coded structure in the Synchron Player provides an intuitive overview and quick access to the vast choices of playing techniques. The meticulously balanced volume levels of the entire sample database guarantee seamless note transitions when moving from one playing technique to the next. Velocity crossfading has been further optimized for extrasmooth volume changes.

Utilizing the Synchron Player's Release Sample technology along with the wide variety of optimized release sounds greatly increases the flexibility and usability of many articulations including legato transitions. Notes like détachés, fortepianos, crescendos, and diminuendos can be played at various lengths, while always triggering the correct release sounds to sound musical and natural.
