This unit has just the right amount of features at a great price. Love having both HDMI (2) and SDI (4) inputs. Love having the built in screen plus outputs for multi, pgrm, and aux! Having one down and one up stream key plus the extra logo/bug key creates flexibility. Two audio inputs plus the one main output make it easy to integrate equipment or with other audio systems; would have preferred XLR connections, but good 1/8 TRS adapters work just fine. Unit can stream by USB-C tethering or RJ45 direct to host. The unit easily mixed inputs of differing resolutions, and broadcasting or recording at 1080p60 is more than adequate. If you don't need 4K, this is a great piece of gear to have. The only con I found was when streaming by USB-C tethering, you cannot record to the CF on the unit. You have to record on the device you are tethered to. Very happy with this purchase.

This is an ideal choice for PTZ on a budget! Great color, great zoom, great focus!

Amazing capabilities for a small switcher. Works perfectly with HDMI out from Mac laptop and SDI from my Sony cameras. Small, compact and does the job perfectly. Only addition I would recommend is a balanced audio input but workaround is relatively easy. Small form factor is a plus. No issues.

We have an outdoor live location that is transmitted back to our newsroom via fiber circuit. This switcher allows me to keep an HD signal generator (Maxtron) running so the control room can check on the circuit before deploying a crew. When the camera is plugged in it switches to that source automatically and resumes the test signal as soon as the camera is powered off. The unit has been in a weatherproof outdoor enclosure running continuously for two years with no issues so far.

This is the second AW-HE40 that our church has bought. We purchased the first one over 2 years ago. The camera works very well. The zoom and low-light performance is great.


We use it with a network connection that provides POE. There is about a .25 second delay in the video over the network. I'm not sure if the delay is the same when using a HDMI connection.


The interface API to control the device is pretty simple. I wrote an application to remotely control the camera using a X-box controller.

This is a good little switcher. Accepts all formats and easy to connect a computer. Unlike Blackmagic switcher that give you a hassle when connecting multiple formats, this AV Matrix makes it easy. Plug and play. Only this it’s missing is keying options and 4K and it will smoke out Blackmagic.

Panasonic has stepped up to the plate these cameras are the best out of any camera brands I've ever used, easy to operate set up quick

The HE40SW was our choice over the HDMI version for a number of reasons. firstly, We use CAT6 (POE) and an SDI cable and that's it. This means I don't need to run separate power. 2 Cables and the cameras are up and running. SDI also gives us much longer cable runs than HDMI and using the BlackMagic Television Studio 4k means we have no converters.
