This aluminum plate features an upgraded 1/4"-20 camera mounting screw with a thicker head and wider D shaft. The rubberized top surface prevents the camera from twisting on the plate without marring its surface. Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. After the base is leveled, is it possible to pan 360 degrees without the ballhead flopping around. I only see one knob for the ballhead...and one for the leveling base. What am I missing?

A: While there is only one knob to control the ball head and the panning on the LH-25, that knob is friction controlled so you only need to loosen it slightly to pan the head without movement from the ball sphere.

Q: 2. What is important to consider when looking at different size ball heads? For ex, why choose a 40mm over a 30mm or 50mm?

A: The size of the ball, actually the base corresponds with the tripod base. For example if you have a travel tripod or a smaller size tripod, then a 20mm or 30mm would be a good fit. A large tripod dictates a 40 or 50mm ball head.

Q: 3. will this work with the Gitzo traveler 1 series?

A: Yes Gitzo tripods have a 3/8" screw so Leofoto LH-40 ball head will work.

Q: 4. There's no "In the Box" for this. I think the head includes an Arca camera plate. Then when I put one in the cart, they ask, "do you want a camera plate?" Just enough uncertainty to make me buy a second camera plate or not buy. Can somebody confirm that I get a ball head and a plate for my $186?

A: Leofoto LH-55 Low-Profile Ball Head with Quick Release Plate (Black) includes a quick release plate in the box.

Q: 5. Does this Ball head panning lock down separate from the ball so i can adjust and level ball head with out the base moving with it?

A: Yes it does.

Q: 6. How doe the LH-40 compare to the LH-30 for loads of 4-5 lbs, such as a FF camera and a 24-70/2.8?

A: Either will work but the LH-40 has a much higher load capacity and would be more suitable for your setup.

Q: 7. Will this work with an ifootage monopod cobra 180?

A: Yes. With no problem the following ball-head will attach.

Q: 8. Does it come with a quick release plate?

A: Yes, it comes with a quick release plate.

Q: 9. Leofoto's site says this has support wt. of 15kg, 33lb. Why does your site say 13.2lb?

A: According to the manufacturer, the maximum load capacity of the Leofoto LH-30 Ball Head with Quick Release Plate is 33.1 lb (15 kg). Our website should be updated & corrected to reflect this information shortly.

Q: 10. What is the diameter of the base?

A: The Leofoto LH-30 Ball Head with Quick Release Plate base diameter is 1.85" (4.7 cm).

I am carrying an OM system 150-600 on a rapid style sling with a qd disconnect. I wanted to use qd so I could transition from sling to tripod (arca) quickly and this plate is perfect for that. The 'M' shaped design of the tightening handle allows me to tighten the plate enough by hand without a tool, it is a joy to have a plate stay tight without having to resort to using tools.

I've hiked with it mounted for quite a few miles and feel confident in it. I was originally worried it did not have a 'stop' bump like some other plates to avoid twisting and loosening, but so far it has not been an issue. I would buy it again.

The plate is comfortable in my palm when shooting hand held.

My rig is around 6.5 lbs.
