Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What does used paper rolls mean? Is there paper missing or is it just open box?

A: The Canson Infinity PhotoSatin Premium RC 270 Archival Photo Inkjet Paper (24" x 100' Roll) is a new product, however we do currently have some that are used for sale as well. Our used products have been owned and used and then sold back to us, which we then sell again at a discounted price.

Q: 2. I've had issues with this paper curling as soon as it's removed from the box. This is causing the print heads to strike the paper. The directions that came with the paper recommend: if the paper curls, straighten it. Not a lot of help. How do your straighten this paper?

A: It depends how the paper is stored and for how long. It is recommended that you store your paper flat. You can purchase a paper decurler, but we don't sell them. Engineers have taught me a trick, if the paper is not too long, and your microwave large enough the paper can be slightly wound up, and put in the microwave on low ONLY for 10-15 seconds and this may relax and refresh the chemical compounds in the paper.

Q: 3. can i use this product with epson 2880 printer?

A: The Epson Ultra Premium Luster Archival Photo Inkjet Paper (13 x 32.8' Roll) is compatible with the Epson R2880.

Q: 4. Should matte black or photo black ink be used with this paper?

A: We use Photo Black with this paper and get great results. I have never tried matte black but it might have a nice effect.

Q: 5. Is this paper on an acid free base or plastic? What if any are it's archival properties?

A: Semi-gloss paper is technically archival when printed using pigmented inks and stored in a temperature stable environment out of direct sunlight, but if you are looking to maximize your archiveability you would choose a fine art paper (if your printer can handle the extra thickness), that would be called natural. Natural fine art paper usually means NO OBAs (Optical Brightening Agents) have been added, so that the image will darken very slowly over a very long time. OBA papers turn bluish and darken after 15 years all at once; pigment ink doesn't save them.

Q: 6. can you get this paper cut in sheets?

A: You cannot get this paper cut in sheets. But, you can get the Epson Premium Semimatte Archival Photo Inkjet Paper in different sizes.

Q: 7. Where can I find the ICC profile for this paper and an Epson 3880?Thank you

A: You will need to make a customer profile. There are services where you can print out patches on your printer without using any profile and send the sheets to someone to make an ICC profile for you. I have the X-Rite iPro2 and made a profile to use this with my Epson printer.

Q: 8. what is the mil thickness

A: The thickness of that paper is 10.27 mil.

Q: 9. Inkjet metallic paper for canon printer

A: Yes it is for canon printer!

Q: 10. Would this paper also work good with a Canon Pixma ip8720 photo printer?

A: This has been my experience in the reverse: I have printed another brand of paper on my Epson printer, and the colors seem to somewhat off even though my printer has an option for printing other brand papers. Somehow the quality does not seem to be the same. It seems that each paper brand has its own specific thickness to its printer brand. And perhaps differences in each printers color calibration or differences in the ink used? You can by a small packet of the Epson semi-gloss and try it out on your Canon printer to see what the result will be.

I started by using the Epson Luster, which is excellent, but the Hahnemuhle is a notch above.

I've used this as my go-to final print paper for years. After switching to the Piezography K7 inkset, I decided to try some other papers, rather than falling into the trap of relearning a system on my old paper just because it's what I always used. I bought a variety of sample packs featuring papers less expensive than this, to some nearly double the price. After narrowing it down to the fifteen or twenty prints I liked best, I showed them to other photographers, artists, and curators. About half of them immediately singled this paper out as the best fit for my work. It doesn't have the highest DMax out there, even among other similar paper types. It does, however, hold the widest range of tones, especially as far as the highlights are concerned. If you're after something that looks traditional, or if you print a lot of images with a wide tonal range, this is the absolute best natural white paper I've ever used, without question. If you want something with a bit more pop, or just don't like natural white, I'd recommend that you look elsewhere.

The only paper I use for my portfolio and print sales. Excellent for both color and B&W.

Great for Panos and odd sized prints. The paper is a very nice soft gloss on rag. Great color and depth.

This is one of the essential papers for those who like glossy or semi-gloss prints. I usually run proofs on two or three closely related papers, and prints on this paper come out on top much of the time.

Colors really pop with wide gamut but has that old world feel and quality. Very thick (315 GSM). My choice for fine art paper.

My Canon printer seems to have an issue with double profiling from LR and PS so unable to use an ICC profile when printing but can get a good color match by editing based on the soft proof ICC profile and leaving the printing to manage the color output as I do when printing on Canon papers. Also it is worth noting that Hahnemuhle has a profile on their website for this paper and my printer, but Canon has a different profile for this paper and my printer on their website??? On top of that I found my print lab of choice has a totally different profile matched for this paper and their printer which they had custom made for them and even though my printer is completely different it is this profile I found to be the best match for me ; using the soft proof method in LR or PS.
I cannot knock the paper for this as I would experience the same challenges with any non-Canon papers and my printer.
