Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Back before Christmas I purchased two boxes of Canson Infinity Platine Fibre Rag paper (8.5x11 and 13x19) from B&H. I now have a new Canon imageProGraf 300 printer. I've downloaded the ICC profile for this paper, but Canson does not indicate the "Media Type" setting that I should use in PS or LR. Could anyone advise me what media setting I should use?

A: You can probably use Luster or Exhibition Fiber which is also in the semi gloss family. Please note: being that the TM300 is only a 4 color printer not really for photos or fine art, you can't expect to get the exact color on prints anyway. You'll need a printer like the Pro 4100.

Q: 2. Is curling and then flattening required when using this paper as rolls instead of cut sheets?

A: The Canson Infinity Baryta Prestige II Glossy Paper (17" x 50' Roll) does not have excessive curling after printing so flattening is usually not required.

Q: 3. Which Arches papers are in this Discovery Pack?

A: See the full list here: https://www.canson-infinity.com/en/products/discovery-packs

Q: 4. Does this have optical brighteners in it?

A: The Canson Infinity Baryta Photographique II has a very low OBA content.

Q: 5. Has anyone been able to compare prints on these papers with the glossy/satin versions?

A: For photos that are going to be moved around, matte will be better. Not only is it less sensitive when it comes to fingerprints, it's also more resistant to light and doesn't create any reflection. Images with dark tones will have much more contrast.

Q: 6. can I use this in my laser printer?

A: It is not recommended for laser printers, nor made for them. It will work with both dye and pigment inks on an inkjet printer

Q: 7. is this compatible with the canon pima pro 100?

A: Yes, it is compatible and it is best to use the printer specific ICC profiles for the Canson Infinity Platine Fibre Rag Paper and the Canon PIXMA PRO-100 Wireless Professional Inkjet Photo Printer when printing. This can be found with the drop down filters at the link here: https://www.canson-infinity.com/en/icc-profiles?fp=485

Q: 8. How do I eliminate bronzing on Canon pro-100?

A: Best is to use the printer specific ICC profiles for the Canson Infinity Platine Fibre Rag Paper and the Canon PIXMA PRO-100 Wireless Professional Inkjet Photo Printer when printing. This can be found with the drop down filters at the link here: https://www.canson-infinity.com/en/icc-profiles?fp=485

Q: 9. I purchased 2 boxes of Canson's Platine Fibre Rag paper from B&H back in December. I now have a Canon imageprograf 300 printer. I've downloaded the icc profile from Canson's site. The accompanying pdf recommends that in PS, the media paper type should be set at "Matte Paper". However, the label on the box describes the paper as "Ultra Smooth Glossy".  Would anyone have a suggestion as to the correct media type for this paper?

A: You can download the AM1X profile from the Carson website and then it will be available as a custom paper for you to select. https://www.canson-infinity.com/en/icc-profiles?fp=485&lc=en

Q: 10. "Acid-Free" is listed in the "key features" but not in the description or on the box. Is this paper actually acid-free?

A: Yes, the Canson Infinity Baryta Photographique II (5 x 7", 25 Sheets) would be Acid-Free.

I have come to love the feel and texture of this paper. It is my standard unless the image calls for a more glossy surface.

This paper can only be described as fabulous. I have returned to photography after many years and I am stunned by how incredible my digital prints are on this paper. No need for the old fashioned drying or dry mounting.
