The black 4488 CORE from DPA is a lightweight cardioid headset microphone with an advanced, completely adjustable, stainless steel headset mechanism. The visually discreet, dual-ear design offers a very comfortable wearing experience for presenters and performers while providing broadcast-quality sound up to the demanding standards of theater, TV, and live event professionals.

The 4488 fits the wearer by using 3-point ear grips with spring mechanisms that grip comfortably above and below the ears and to the side of the head for added security. The 2-way adjustable boom system—length and height—features an anti-rotate mechanism that makes it easy to position the tiny 5mm mic capsule for optimal sound quality. A sliding lock mechanism secures the boom positioning. In addition, the 90° cable management system safeguards the cable from stress and directs it down the wearer's back, where it can't be seen.

DPA's CORE technology is at the heart of the electret-condenser capsule, providing an ultralow noise floor and wide dynamic range. With an SPL rating of 144 dB, the microphone is more than capable of handling loud speakers, vocalists, and presenters to deliver clean, transparent, and reliable sound for critical performances and presentations.

The 4488 CORE is powered by 5 to 10V plug-in power from a wireless transmitter and features a modular design using a Microdot output connector. The mic is compatible with various wireless microphone transmitters via a separately available adapter for the compatible transmitter. A foam windscreen and carrying case are included.

Q: 1. Can I use the Rode HS2 with a Sony UWP D21 Wireless Bodypack Transmitter?

A: No, the RODE HS2 Lightweight Headset Microphone is not compatible for use with the Sony UTX-B40 Wireless Bodypack Transmitter for the Sony UWP-D21 Lavalier Microphone System. The internal wiring on the HS2 is different than the wiring used for Sony transmitters. The HS2 is compatible for use with Sennheiser wireless transmitters, but not with Sony transmitters. As a compatible option, you can use the Sony ECM-322BMP Professional Headworn Microphone (B&H # SOECM322BMP), the Countryman Isomax Omnidirectional Headset Microphone for Sony Wireless Transmitters - 1/8" (3.5mm) Locking-Mini Connector, Beige - (B&H # COMHOW5LSN), the Countryman H6 Omnidirectional Headset with Detachable Cable and 3.5mm Locking Connector for Sony Wireless Transmitters - W7 Band, Beige (B&H # COH6OW7LSN), or the Voice Technologies VT DUPLEX Omni Headset Microphone with 3.5mm TRS Locking Connector for Sony Transmitters - S/M, Beige (B&H # VOVT0594) or L/XL, Beige (B&H # VOVT0588).

Q: 2. Would this be a good lapel mic for sit down interview or is it designed primarily for stage use on actors?

A: The AKG LC81 MD Reference Lightweight Cardioid Lavalier Microphone could be used for an interview scenario as well as stage use. Its cardioid pickup pattern makes it more directional to help focus on the voice and eliminate external noise, as well as possibly reducing the possibility of feedback when it is amplified.

Q: 3. Can the Rode Hs2 be used as the Rode Wireless Go?

A: Hello Wemerson. The Rode HS2 now has a locking nut that works for the RodeLink systems, however the Wireless Go doesn't have the locking connection. To use the HS2 with the Wireless Go, simply remove the locking nut and store it for later.

Q: 5. Can I use this headset with shure ULXD and AD Series??, I need some Adapter or change the pinout of the connector??

However, we do have other headsets that are compatible with Shure wireless transmitters such as the Shure WBH54T Beta 54 Headworn Vocal Microphone - Tan (B&H # SHWBH54T), the Shure DH5 DuraPlex Omnidirectional Headset Microphone - Tan (B&H # SHDH5TOMTQG), the Galaxy Audio HSM8 Dual-Ear Headset Mic with 4 Cables - Beige (B&H # GAHS8OBG4MX), the Point Source Audio Series8 Omnidirectional Waterproof Headset Microphone with TA4F Connector for Shure, Line 6, JTS, Trantec, Carvin Wireless Transmitters - Beige (B&H # POCO8WDXSHBE), or the MIPRO MU-53HNSX Dual-Ear Cardioid Headset Microphone for Wireless Transmitters - Beige (B&H # MIMU53HNSX).

Q: 6. What connection Jack does this mic use?

A: The AKG LC81 MD has a MicroDot connector. There are adapters available from AKG and other manufacturers to convert the MicroDot connector to a different type of connector and enable compatibility with a variety of wireless transmitters or to connect the mic to a standard XLR input. For example, the AKG MDA3 SEN2 MicroLite Microphone Adapter Connector for Sennheiser Bodypack Transmitter with 3.5mm Phone Jack (B&H # AKMDA3) or Deity Microphones DA35 Microdot to Locking 3.5mm Adapter - Black (B&H # DEDA35) will both convert the MicroDot connector to a 3.5mm TRS locking connector for use with Sennheiser transmitters. You can find the AKG MicroDot adapters listed on the item page for the mic -- click on the tab for "Accessories" above the product description, then click on the tab for "Adapters."
