Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this fit sigma 50mm f1.4 art for canon lens?

A: Yes, it will :)

Q: 2. Will this fit my Canon 80D?

A: Yes, it will fit the 80D, though of course it will give you the effective angle of view of an 80 mm focal length.

Q: 3. Is the calibration dock necessary? Shouldn't the lens be sharp out of the box?

A: Yes, in my experience it has been necessary to fine tune the focus on all three of my Sigma lenses. You can do in camera adjustments for each lens but it wont be a good as when using the usb dock because the dock allows lenses to be calibrated at different focal lengths. Plus when I bought my Sigma 50mm from B&H the dock came with it. Good luck!

Q: 4. I am really torn between getting this great lens or the Nikon 50 f/1.4G. For those of you who really like the Sigma 50, what can you tell me about it specifically that will make me want to buy it over the Nikon 50 1.4G?

A: There are pros and cons. The Nikon 50 is not as sharp and slow focusing, but it can AF in low light. The Sigma is sharper, focus fast but can't AF as well in low light. Maybe 50% hit and miss. Doesn't work will with Nikon flash system too. Also may have issues in movie mode. Maybe the bokeh is better on the Nikon too. I'll get the Sigma for landscape where you manual focus and need sharp images, but I would not use it on important assignments where you have low light situations. The Nikon maybe a better all round lens but i find it out dated.

Q: 5. Are the hood between the Canon and E-mount 50mm Art Lens the same?

A: Yes, the hoods are the same.

Q: 6. i have lens 85 mm and lens 35. can i use for both?

A: No, the Sigma Lens Hood for the 50mm f/1.4 Art Digital HSM Lens is made for the 50mm f/1.4 Art Digital HSM lens. It is not compatible or recommended for use with any other lenses.

Q: 7. I’m putting this on my Canon 5D MKIV. Do I need to go ahead and purchase the Sigma USB dock?

A: Purchasing the Sigma USB Dock for this lens is a good idea in case you need to adjust the focus settings on your lens or update the firmware.

Q: 8. I have the 24-70ii lens already for my 6D but I would like to add a prime lens to my kit. I am contemplating the sigma 35 art and the 50 art. I like the idea of adding one of these two because I feel like they can provide a more unique style that my 24-70 can't (bokeh and low light). I also already have the canon 50 f1.8 but although its a good lens for the price, it's not my favorite lens. I like the idea of the 50 for portraits of my daughter but I feel like the 35 is generally more my style because of it's versatility but does that make sense if I already have a 24-70 and I want a good portrait lens? I feel like most people would agree to get the 35 since I already have a 50 but I'd be fine replacing that lens and never using it again. Any advice/input is welcomed. Thank you!

A: Go with the 50mm art lens. Replace your canon. You will love the 50mm art lens and I think your 24-70 can pick up the 35mm look that you want. I have told 2 other photogs about this lens and they agree and have sold their canon 50mms.

Q: 9. its for lens sigma 50 mm art?

A: Yes, this is the correct lens hood.

Q: 10. Will it protect the lens from dust and light rain?

A: Yes, this will help from dust and light rain, though it is not offer full water resistant, as it doesn't completely cover the lens.
